Mga ka-PinoyDVD.. Gusto ko po sanang humingi ng advice / recommendation kung anong 55" Flat Screen TV ang mai-rerecommend nyo sakin advance Christmas gift ko po sana sa parents ko..

And which is better po Smart TV or LED TV?

Budget is around Php 30-50K po..

At your budget, dami options nyan. Check mo sa Ansons, dito sa PDVD marketplace o Sulit ang LG, Samsung or Sony. Most (if not all) 55 inchers are already smart, bring a 4k HDR movie material in external drive to compare picture quality, the bigger file, the better (30GB and above).  Check for black level (the blacker blacks, the better), contrast ratio and overall picture quality. Good luck.

And btw, stay away from TCL.

with that budget i'd go with a good brand with good warranty & costumer service support.

One thing to consider is the viewing habits/needs of your parents. If they will be the sole users, do note if they enjoy watching HD movies (blu-rays/4K UHD or even downloaded movies) or they just prefer watching local TV programming or enjoy cable/satellite TV. Techie pa ba sila? A simple yet known-brand LED TV with minimal apps should be more than enough for them especially if it will be used for news, telenovelas, or an occasional cable movie only. No need to get a high end or 4K SMART TV if they are a typical old couple. You may opt to get a bigger TV if they have ample space for one. You can then use the money saved for other things they need.

Wala ka at mabibili na 55" na hindi Smart. Biggest na basic LED TV na nakita ko is 50" lang.

depend sa age ng parents mo. kung medyo my edad na just a simple LED tv ok na yun. masyado malaki na yang budget mo. regular LED tv nalang buy mo.

I agree with what others have posted.

If your parents are "techies" who love watching and streaming movies, get a smart TV.

If your parents will only use it for local shows, a smart TV is overkill.

Another option is to just get a basic LED TV with no smart features and just buy a chromecast(around 2500 pesos)...The chromecast will essentially transform your basic TV into a smart one.

Recently purchased a 43 inch smart TV and I don't really use any of the smart features.....I actually do most of my streaming through my chromecast(NBA, HOOQ, Netflix). I prefer the interface of my chromecast since it's faster to search movies using my phone(the phone acts as your remote).
