has anyone elses ahve any experience is getting used speakers from the pier? just like having your surplus amp, surplus cpd...... maybe an all surplus set-up is in order there-after.

well, personally i got my first taste of surplus speakers about 3 weeks ago, a technics bookshelf, SB-3:

had this while scouting the pier (together with 3 other kwela boys!) for new arrival cdps, which turned out na the week after pa pala ang arrivals.

very impressive ang sound quality, specially for voice and instrument, good imaging capability, and nice condition pa, all parts working, well heck even the grill is intact, no punit

...... i leave the other views and reviews on this speakers to those who have listened to it na.

special thanks goes to sir BGA_VI, if not for him i wouldnt have gotten this speaker. nice of you to BI me sir.

and oh, i almost forgot, here was a floorstander version of this one, but left speaker's tweeter is not functioning, busted na ata. has a deeper bass.... sayang.

brands that abound are, yamaha, onkyo, daitone, pioneer, sony, forgot the others..... prices at 2k above, specially the heavy ones. dont forget to haggle though.

hmmmmm......

havent tried it pa ha, as i have a floorstander which i prefer using than the bookshelf, but my floorstander was designed primarily for music yet it performs well as an HT speaker, yon nga lang ingat ka in placing it near thetv as those speakers are primarily not magnetically shielded. otherwise i dont see any reason why a speaker can not be used for both HT and music.

Thanks for letting us borrow your Technics it open option for guys on a budget but don't want to sacrifice good sound.. your speaker reminded me of my old speaker B&W 302 na dapat pala di ko nabenta

galing mag image, vocals are smooth and open high are clean but lack bass pero oks lang since bookshelf just pair it sa sub.. tried disco, new wave and pop jazz and your speaker shined ayos din integration nya sa MS sub ni Sir akyat.

Hope makahanap din ako... type ko yun yamaha..

actually when we bought it i wasnt expecting much of it but since maganda pa yong over all appearance nya and during the testing all thumbs up naman tayo, plus the prodding of sir BGA, ayan na. after a few days with technics, i realized na d lang pala amp and cdp and gems sa pier pati pala speakers, so when the opportunity came that i could share with you our find pinahiman ko na, that is also the reason why i started this thread, to share the good word, este sound, para dumami n rin tayo.

yes panalo talaga sya sir, kahit sa mura kong dq12 good integration din. so far and except for the bass, wala pa akong nakikitang weakness nito.

just wnt to confirm sir, tunog papercone ba to sir?

that yamaha sounds good except yong bass, parang overbearing na e, wala bang return policy sila don just in case na encurable na tlga sya?

Yan din pala WARNING to future buyers.. same sa Amps & CDp sa Pier meron replace or repair pero walang return policy.. kaya what you see is what you get.

kaya test it properly kahit matagal..

Guys,

Another gem is Onkyo ni BGA warm sounding naman and good bass for a bookshelf maybe due to ported sya compare to Technics na sealed..

BTW price start 2,500 to 4,500 depend on the model size and status.. hehehehe

we already auditioned a diatone speaker from a fellow member. IMHO, the speaker is impressive and sounds good. its a 3-way system and uses paper cone driver.

galing lang ako kanina sa pier wala na yung yamaha na na test natin or nakatago, but hindi ko na nakita meron dun 3 way na yamaha looks ok, NS- 351 yata pero di ko na test. sa first bldg.

depende yan bro sa listening preference mo, mag audition ka na lang dun ang dami mong pagpipilian. Ang alam ko "as is" yung mga binebentang speaker dun. may na test nga kaming speaker na sira yung left tweeter nya.

yes i heard also the onkyo liverpool of sir BGA, what i notice 1st was that despite of its small size, maganda ang bass. and the make was quite impressive, halatang top of the line tlaga, even the grill was made of metal. ganda din ng sound.....

looks exactly like this, but am not quite sure about the model no. though. there are several other models for the liverpool edition, heres the link if your intrested.

reviews arent that great regarding this speaker bro, theres one that mentions about it having an unnatural bass, frankly, i havent seen this model at the pier, but who knows, there are a lot of diatones thereof....
