Eto nanaman tayo mga braders...over the weekend, I passed by SnS. Sakto, may nag-audition ng XDE...and to tell you frankly, I was impressed!!! :o This player really made my jaw drop. I have seen the capabilities of the Oppo 980 to upscale, but it does not come close to the upscaling capabilities of the XDE, IMHO. Kaya ngayon, bebenta ko na dvd player ko! ;D XDE...here I come! :P

It's the panel inside SnS...where you do auditions. I am not sure of the size of the panel, but it is big. I don't think it's any smaller than a 42 inch. Given that the panel was 42 inch or higher, the resolution of the player was really awesome and the detail on the images was crisp, and to think, jack sparrow disc pa ang ginamit nila, ganon na kaganda, what more an original dvd. :o

Now it is set to 1080p/24f, kinaya ng 42PV80 ko, oks na oks pag Fast Action scene (Transformers (SD)) 8)

OT Sir, compared with my PS3 and my former Samsung BD500 (sold already), "lampaso" sila pareho PQ-wise with the XDE-500!,
set at 1080p/24hz thru Panny AX100. The PQ of this upscaler is worth P15-25k in my opinion. No-brainer at P5k!  :o

guys,

already have my initial impressions of this player vis-a-vis my current unit (philips dvp 5986k).  am reserving my review.

would really want to shoot this out with the oppo 980 or higher oppo models.  to those kind enough, i offer my small but humble place.  just bring the oppo unit and snacks with pepsi is on me!  ;)  (calling the kingpin!  ;D)

thanks and cheers!

Got my xde500 from anya this morning and the PQ on my panny PV70 at 1080p/24F is just amazing. Its way better than my older pio600. I'm really impressed. I guess my shifting to BD can wait a little longer ;D

Comparisons of Branded DVD Players
« Reply #227 on: Jul 30, 2009 at 06:24 AM »
Hello,

Please help. Im looking for an Upscaling DVD Player and i was able to norrow it down to this two product. Now Based on your experience can you tell me which one of this dvd player (SONY DVP-NS708H and Toshiba XDE500) has a better upscaling capability? I try to research on the internet but  they got mixed review. By the way, I'l use it with my Region 1 dvd's collection along with my Plasma TV Panasonic 42C10...

Many thanks...
