bakit kaya di pa bumababa presyo ng 667a? I saw some old stocks at Anson's mahal pa rin ang price tag :(

Just bought Pioneer 676a at Abensons.   My problem is, bakit 2.1ch lang ang lumalabas sa Dolby/DTS?  I completely read the manual on "Initial Settings" para  maset-up ko sa 5.1 channel pero 2.1 pa rin ang sound nya?  I am using an Altec Lansing 5.1 speaker.

A little help please.  thanks
Still world peace

Comparisons of Branded DVD Players

planning to buy a new player to replace our broken philips 642.  which between the two would be a better buy?  which brand is more reliable and durable from your experience?  video quality?  sound?  browsed the pioneer sg site.  595k is listed as having only 96kHz/24-bit DAC.  the 3026k has 192khz/24-bit dac.  i suppose the 3026k should sound better.  does anyone also know if the 595k has a built-in dts decoder?  595k sells for 4990php.  3026k is 3990php.  thanks in advance. :)

thanks kojie.  the 696 looks like a very good player.  was tempting and had considered it for a while.  but in the end i settled for the 3026k, as i only need a basic player.  bought it for 3490php at automatic centre.   got the 3-year extended warranty also for 898php.

If your using the analog output, then upsampling to 24/192 would be better.  However if your using the digital output coax or toslink, then don't bother with the upsampling.  The player is just a transport and the DAC being bypassed.  If your DVD to AV connection is digital, then the AV's DAC is the one being used.

the difference between the 490v and the 696 was only in the audio DAC yata ... so baka pareho din ang difference ngayon, sa audio dac din.  so in theory, dapat no difference in PQ

also, the 490V uses the Mediatek MT1389FE, while the 696 uses the Mediatek MT1389EXE. don't know what's the advantage of one over the other though.

yvesjae,

yung 300 and 400 may optical out pareho

baka yung ibig sabihin nung 2 channel for 400 and 5.1 channel for 600 ay yung analog outs.  hindi yung HDMI support, meron ka bang link kung saan mo nakuha yung info na yan?

got the info from DV-600/DV-400 User Manual from Pioneer UK

here's the link:
http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/peeservice/instrmanuals.nsf/0/93EC87D0DE485DE9C12572F1002729CF/$File/VRB1471_DV-600AV-S.pdf

Regarding Optical Digital output: p15 of 64 and p62 of 64
Regarding HDMI audio output settings: p16 of 64 and p47 of 64

maybe the DV-600/DV-400 released here in asia is a lot different than in UK (aside from the SCART connection).

the online manual parang pareho lang sa manual ko ... except for the SCART nga.

Bought a DV400 and one thing I liked about it is that it can output DTS in 2 channels.  I have a stereo setup lang sa bedroom attached to my DVD player and now I can play DTS movies and output in 2 channels lang.  No need for a receiver with DTS decoder.   ;D

When I am playing DVDs with my Pio 400 minsan nawawala yung display and I need to reinsert again the hdmi cable to my dvd player to bring back the display.  BTW, I am using 1080i.  Anybody experiencing this?  It averages 0-2 times in one dvd viewing.

Nerveblocker- Then you have a problem.....Digital is all or none.(hence, the 12K monster HDMI is much the same as the free HDMI cable being supplied by Samsung)  ;)
As I posted several months before, I encountered the same problems with my Samsung slim CRT and when I called Samsung, the technician acknowledge the problem and asked wheter I wanted a repair (to be done at home, they will change the HDMI connector motherboard, claimed it'll take a few minutes as long as they have the part) or I can ask for an upgrade to LCD.
Check out the Pioneer player 1st, attached it to another HDMI capable projector/LCD/Plasma and observed it watch for 4-6 hours, and if the problem does not occur, then it's probably your HDMI equipped display.

Thanks for the response.  The problem is that I don't have any extra HDMI capable display as of the moment to test whether it is the DVD player or the LCD TV that has the problem.  I also thought that my HDMI cable is too thick for the space at the back of the LCD ( the HDMI cables they use in the stores are thinner though).  Talked to my cousin with a Samsung LCD TV and he told me that he has also the same problem specially when his subwoofer vibrates. Sometimes I just shake my HDMI cable and the display reappears again.  It is getting irritating though at times when you are at the climax and then your display turns to the blue screen.  >:(  Also tried attaching the cable to the other HDMI port in my LCD TV and I still have the same observations.

Solved this problem already.  The culprit was the hdmi cable.  It had a loose connector in one end.  I replaced it with an Acoustic Research HDMI cable and everything is ok so far.  Good thing it wasn't my Aquos that had the problem.  Whew!  ;)

Try the HDMI 1.3 version with your DV400. Am using a Sony HDMI 1.3version cable pang Sony PS3 hooked with my Panny 42PV plasma, replacing the older HDMI ko (Ultra Link), mas clearer for fast action scenes. Try nyo!
