Hello Eric_S,

I saw your posted HT pics in the previous part of this thread. It's a nice system as it is, even without the front projector.

I noticed that you had placed a rather sizeable center speaker on top of the rptv.  I just upgraded to a B&W LCR6 center which is one big mother.  This replaced a smaller Infinity CC3 center atop a Tosh 61" rptv.  My concern now is whether the rptv cabinet which seems to be made of 1/4" mdf can carry the weight of the center speaker without buckling out of shape.  The LCR6 should be about the same size as the one you use (and probably as heavy).  Was this ever a concern for you?

When I got that center channel, I didn't know it would be that big. I never actually thought of the TV cabinet not supporting the weight...but it has been a good 6 months now that its been that way so....

FYI, I did try the front pj thingy but I was "vetoed" by a higher authority (...spouse  :-[ )to return it. I had an NEC LT150 and it was a dream....a dream that was never realized only tasted.

Eric, you mentioned that you had to return the NEC because your wife didn't approve of it, is it really that easy to return a product? How were you able to do it and which noble store is this? Thanks.

Well, it might be easy to return perfectly fine stuff for failing to pass spousal approval, but the dealer would be more wary next time you buy.   ;D

A dealer friend narrates how one guy bought a midlevel stereo amp only to return it a few days after insisting there was something wrong with it. Since the amp was in perfect conditon, the dealer couldn't understand what the trouble was, and he was starting to get irritated at the the guy's insistence there was something wrong.

Finally, the guy broke down and pleaded to the dealer to accept the amp and refund him the money, since his wife demanded that he return it. Said the dealer:

"Yun lang pala e, dapat sinabi mo na agad, ang dami mo pang sinabi. No problem, huwag ka na lang babalik!"

I think most dealers understand the spouse factor very well. It also pays to be honest and also to have a good relationship with them.

Mynameiswalts.....I didn't exactly "return" it to the store I bought it from. I got it at a good price to begin with so when I sold it to someone else, break even lang ako. Parang nag-audition lang ako. Mabuti na rin kasi, we found we like watching cable TV on a regular basis. Kung pj kasi, nagbibilang ako ng oras ng bulb which is quite expensive.

Rak-rak......no I don't have that other 4:3 anymore. It was "donated" to a very good friend of ours here. Wala silang "big scream TV" so we opted to give it to them. Malaki rin talaga naman ang utang na loob namin sa kanila kaya....Also, most, if not all of my previous stuff were sold off (siyempre may tubo pa rin..marketing lang ang kailangan  ;D )to refinance my new gear. Anong akala mo sa akin...mayaman?...well...hindi pa!

To Levi,

As requested, here's my nondescript setup

Family room:

Haraman/Kardon AVR7000
Promac 2002 DVD
34" Panasonic Tau
REL Acoustics Storm III Sub-woofer
Wharfedale Valdus 500 front. 400 back  300 center

Bedroom

Conrad Johnson MF-5600 Amp
Promac 2002 DVD
29" Samsung Biovision
JBL Pro 12 sub-woofer
JBL Northridge NSP 10 front, center and rear speakers (all bookshelf)

Interconnecting/speaker cables:  can't remember the name, Kimber(?) but more wallet-intensive than the 2 Promacs.

Nice mix of el cheapo brands and high end, di ba?   In case you're wondering, gamit ko lang yung National tuner/alarm clock if I want to listen to radio.in the bedroom..

Simple set-up, no VHS, no cassette, no CD or LD player, no equalizer, no line conditioners.  FYI, the PROMAC, thanks tto your very good reviews on the product , replaced a Sony  DVD that  played only R3 discs.
