Recommend an external Power Amp
« on: Aug 16, 2021 at 01:06 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm planning to get a Pioneer LX503. In order for me to maximize the 11.2 or 7.2.4 configuration, I should hook up an external power amp.  Now I see power amps from 2K to 8k to whopping 6figs.  Just wondering, since I will just be using it for atmos speakers, would the 2K power amps from shoppee be enough? If not, can you recommend a budget meal power amps? preferably below 7K.  TIA! :-)

The MARANTZ  MM7055 is bang for the buck around 50k or maybe lower nowadays, if 5 channel isnt enough then you could opt for the MM8077 7-Channel series at a higher price. These amps are sonically great!

If you are just gonna use it for surrounds or ATMOS w/out the need of too much juice try this one maybe if it still available.

Thank you. :-) Yeah I just need a 2 channel power amp for the additional height channel to do a 7.1.4 config.  I reckon since it's just for "effects" then it shouldn't be expensive, no? :-)

Any 2 channel amp should be okay, i have an 7498 based amp that sounds as good if not better than my sony dn1080 and marantz 6012 in music, can't see why it cant do the same in HT; though maybe try to find something with trigger so you dont need to turn it on and off.

ok nice. Thank you for very much Alvin. Appreciate it!  I guess it's time to sell my 303 for the 530 then! :-)

I've been using the DS-52 for all my atmos height speakers.  works well for me. Here it is where I based it from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5z1AUrU6r8
