Maybe if we start a petition letter to GMA Films to issue another set of Rizal DVD's, and if they see that there is a significant number of people who will buy them, I think they will do it. MuroAmi has come out on DVD and it is a "lesser" film compared to Rizal. I hope it would be easy to ask them, considering reissue lang naman at hindi new DVD. Unless of course they decide to add more special features and have more bonuses. We just have to send the listing to them at GMA Films.

I bought the Rizal VCD last Christmas. I am very surprised with the excellent quality of reproduction not unlike the other legit VCDs I bought (like Tombstone) where you can see the pixillations.

On the Rizal VCD, the picture was a little notch higher than VHS playback. If such is the case, the DVD should have better quality. Just hope GMA realizes that there is a market for a Rizal DVD.

I think it would be much much better if you guys get a copy of mike de leon's Bayaning Third World. It puts rizal into perspective unlike Rizal which almost puts him into god status.. just thinking out loud

if and when it comes out on dvd, i'm sure it's on DD5.1. it's one of the very few pinoy films released as 5.1 sa theaters.

and i'm sure, they'll throw in a lot of "special features" within the disc, judging by the "making of..." VCD na released kasama ng book.

and jude, swerte ang utol mo to have received the book and the tape from gma as a gift. kaunti lang ang pinagbigyan niyan that time. believe me, i was the one who prepared all those, as the ex mktg services head ng marketing.

Nobody's selling so far, qwerty.

Feature-wise, I remember seeing the "Making of Rizal" including the 'Sha-la-la-la-la' gag by the cast.

Hmm, Have you not notice? this could be one possibility why there is a hard time for this film to be released on DVD format. Probably GMA Films have a hard time removing the burned subtitles in Rizal film

i don't think so. original or master copies of the film do not have subtitles. they don't put subtitles during the shoot.

After reading this forum, it looks like that I'm forced to transfer my VHS copy (padala ng aking ina mula sa Maynila - hikbi) to DVD just to preserve the movie.

I'll just create a simple front end menu for this one. As for that Sha-la-la-la shot, I was hoping I could find one somewhere in the web but I'd doubt that they'd have at 720x480.

And I didn't know na buhay pa rin ang thread na ito. Sana nga mai-release na ang Rizal DVD na yan. Pero baka naman after its release, people will be ranting as to how the dvd sucked because the picture quality was similar to that of a Viva dvd. Hopefully not.

recently, may article sa isang major broadsheet regarding the showing of "Jose Rizal" in japan. it raked in more than $1 million!

i hope this will encourage GMA to mass produce the "Jose Rizal" DVD (mala-R1).

There is a great potential in its dvd sales here & abroad.
