i believe this was never released commercially. i doubt if a UPC is assigned to it. anyhow, this would be distributed again as part of gift pack/corp profile for GMA clients and advertisers. make sure you contact your  friends from media placement agencies as early as now.

Maybe you should ask this site:
http://gmastore.us/products/movies/dvd-joserizal.html

I found this site quite unusual, but there it is anyway.  Speaking of Rizal, is Bayaning Third World re-released on DVD? I got it on VCD lang eh.

Yup, as one of Viva's "Award Winning Homegrown Movie" series for Php 199.

Not bad. 75 peso difference from the VCD. Ang tanong may Special Features ba?  ::)

So there's a chance that the subs aren't burned into the film?  ??? :)

Features:
Documentary on the making OF JOSE RIZAL produced by The Probe Team
Full Trailer
Language: Tagalog & Spanish
Subtitles: English

175 Minutes
region-free

Rated PG

------------------

I think this is a missed opportunity.  If there is a local movie that could have a 'limited deluxe version gift set', this would be it...

Panay SM Record Bar yata ang nangunang nakaroon...

;D IT'S OUT ALREADY!!! RAID YOUR NEAREST VIDEO STORE!!!

I saw a copy today at Video City Megamall at P425 (less 5% ata)...It's pretty much the same as mine, except that my copy is more orangy and the outside print is more expensive looking (bwahaha!!).

The one I saw appeared, shall I say, more commercial in terms of looks (bad GMA logo print, MTRCB sticker and all that jazz) but I bet  that this is much better in terms of PQ and SQ since it took so many years before they decided to release it and at an opportune time that dvd technology is way, way advanced than it was 7 years ago.

So my copy is no longer in the rare list. :'( :'( :'( My consolation though, it was personally signed by Direk Malou. Bwaha!  ;D ;D

Fullscreen 4:3 aspect ratio (is this the original aspect ratio of the film?)

So there's a chance that the subs aren't burned into the film?  ??? :)

Half and half - the English subtitles for the Spanish parts are burned into the film (and are difficult to read in scenes with white foreground), but the English subtitles for the Tagalog parts of the film can be turned on and off:

The menus of the DVD are straight forward, non-animated:

The film transfer itself is very clean. One of the best I've seen for a Philippine movie:

The trailer, though, looks like it was transferred from an old VHS recording of the commercial. Same with the Probe Team "Making of" documentary, but that one is quite good - informative and almost 45 minutes long. Pretty much the same type of documentary you usually get on many DVDs for American films:

Oh, and this is a dual-layer DVD-9 release.  :)

Yup, and Direk Marilou still fondly remembers meeting Blitz. Ironically, she was never given a copy of the LE DVD release either so she's had to contend with screening and giving away the VCD version all these years.

or a poorly preserved u-matic tape.

still, i would have hoped for a commentary of direk marilou and cesar ... that would be very interesting.

this is worth every peso tho... no regrets getting it at 425pesos... even if it does enter the sale bin sometime in the future.  ;D
