The original SL1200 isn't as good as the MK2 and up. First is tonearm design. The MK2 has been redesigned for better float and swivel. Second is the damping, third is the pitch control, fourth is the motor and the list goes on.

ka ernie there's not much difference sa 2 and 5. add on fearures lang but not in terms of sonics...ang alam ko may digital pitch yung 5 na hindi mo naman kailangan unless gusto mong mag dj.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Dodie is right. But just a correction, the MK5 still have the same pitch control PCB layout as the MK3D. Not digital yet. Only the MK5g/M5g bro.

that will do at  di naman ganun ka demanding home playback requirements mo, unless mag ddj ka, nga ba?

Still depends. the original 1200 have no parts available unlike the MK2 and up models. Besides, since ka Ernie will be investing on a Technics turntable, he'd better go for something that he can use (or sell) that has a good resale value. The 1200 MK2 (and up) have the best resale value among all turntables.

Ka Ernie, I would suggest to find an MK3D (Japan)/M3D(US). It's actually the best 1200 variant of them all. The "no BS" 1200.

The Fett 1200s

Here's a pair done for a fellow and avid Star Wars fan and a friend, Lopie Guzman of RSL. He especially requested that his deck were finished in a Star Wars theme, specifically, Boba Fett. An infamous and ruthless bounty hunter form the Star Wars universe.

- Repainted the main diecast frame to Boba Fett's green armor using polyurethane automotive paint.
- Special Fett logos were also painted on top of the base color of the main diecast frame.
- Platters were scraped, 3-step re-faced and repainted and added Fett helmet design.
- Tonearm sections were colored in different tones. Color tones from Boba Fett's Suit and armor. Grey, yellowish-orange and dark maroon.
- All painting are topped with clear coat matte finish to prevent them from fading and chipping.
- Tonearms were rebuilt, pivot bearings cleaned and lubricated. Calibrated to factory setting.
- New heavy duty, OFC RCA cables installed with internal grounding.
- Pitch controls cleaned and calibrated with DeOxit lubrication.
- All lights have been replaced with super bright white LEDs.
- New aluminum pitch decals were applied. Black with white markings.
- Rubber base repainted to flat black
- Applied Technics decals

hello everyone. I recently found an old turntable in the garage. It's a Sanyo TP 728 based on the stickers behind the unit.
I don't think it's in good running condition, definitely worth putting at the back of the garage.

Anyway I was wondering if anybody can advise on whether or not this particular type of turntable is worth having restored.

Additional stickers or labels says:
DC-Servo
Stereo Turntable
Stylus Type ST-35VD

I have a very entry level Audio Technica turntable that I bought a couple of years ago.  Would it be better to just use this instead of resurrecting the Sanyo?

thanks for the advise
