Guys,

I purchased a Project Debut III when I was in the UK......we used it for a while when we were there and it was working fine I had it shipped to the Philippines just arrived yesterday when I tried it the speed of the plate was all wrong I tried switching the belt and using 45's and 33's but I was still getting chipmunk sounds from the turntable.....the voltage in the UK is 240 volts.....is the turntable busted or am I just doing something wrong? Or do I need to purchase something to make the thing usable here in the philippines?

Your help would be greatly appreciated Thanks ;D

dracula, the UK is 50Hz and the Philippines is 60Hz. It's not the voltage, but the AC frquency. You need to find a 60Hz pulley from the distributor.

the last time i had that problem (common to belt drives from UK and Australia) was 20 years ago. bought a Dual TT made for Aussie market (50cps vs. 60cps for RP). there was no locally available pulley replacement, so I brought the unit to De Guzman of Audiophile. he said the pulley needs machine shop work (palagay ko liha lang ang ginamit). it was fixed three days later and i was charged P200 for the job, but that was 20 years ago. best thing is to order a replacement pulley, but if you think it's impractical, consult Audiophile's oldtimers.

hi.

I got an sansui p-m330 turntable that needs servicing. Aside from Fil Audio, can anyone recommed a good turntable repair shop? Where can I source belts, tonearms and other parts?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks

I should think some stores catering to DJ or professional audio needs like Audiophile at Makati Cinema Square carry them.  I recall seeing Shure and Audio-Technica banners there.

Also, Raon in Quiapo may be a good place to start looking.

Hi,

I'm just new here and a turntable user.  I'd been scanning the previous pages looking for the information about my problem pero ang haba na ng thread.  So, I just start here na lang...

My unit is denon dp-29F, mumurahin lang pero maganda din tumunog.  The sound is very clear and rich kaso lang meron lang konti problema (matagal na rin hanggang hinayaan ko lang kasi wala naman pwede mapagtanongan).

It is about this irritating humming sound I'm sure coming from the turntable  kasi kahit naka off and TT basta nakakabit ang kanyang stereo RCAs naghuhuming parin.  And the worst is, if the ground wire is connected to my integrated amp's grounding, lalong lumalakas ang humming even at low volume.  So what I did (based on my internet readings) I just remove the ground wire and keep it hanging and the humming is minimized, pero kahit minimal hindi pa rin acceptable para sa akin, hind ba?

For now I just have my music + humming noise.  Can somebody tell me what's should be the solution?

Thanks.

loose connection anywhere on the links between the cartridge and the phono jacks on the amp.

you may want to check your headshell wires for loose connection.  Did you also try to move the TT onto another location?  There are times that power supplies from other electronic sources introduce noice in the phono chain.

MiniCooper,

Even if the phono power supply is off and removed from the wall outlet, it still "hum" as long as the stereo RCA's are connected to my amp.  So it is not a problem of electrostatics, but i suspect more of the loose connection.

you're connectors could be grounded. try to get hold of a tester (ohm meter), you can easily trace where the problem is.

Grounding test is done, and seems the connectors are ok including the 3rd wire (ground wire).  then what must be the reason for the humming lalo na pag nakakabit yong ground wire?   ??? ::).  Hmmm... normally, this is what you get from cheap electronics. 8)

borrow from a friend another TT unit, kahit yung cheap linear trackers sa midi-compo and hook to your amp. kung meron pa ring hum, nasa amp's phono circuit ang problema, baka marumi tapos highly humid these past few days.

Sir Sandawa/anyone,

I have a linear ttable na p-mount cartridge. Can I use any p-mount with it? Its a Sansui and its easier to get a p-mount shure cartridge (m92e) than to source an orig cartridge kasi.

Thanks!

Mark

yes, all p-mounts have standard specs. if you're buying Shure m92, haggle low since you would not be using the adaptor. you only need the basic cartridge which should fit the assembly on your linear TT (saksak lang plus one small screw.) what's your linear TT, brand and model?

Thanks for the info and the advice!

Sansui P-M330. Orig Cartridge part# =P313. Got it from my uncle and it needs work since the Eject button doesnt work, walang belt and I cant find the other pulley. Yung belt naman for the tracker I was able to replace with a vcd belt. Meron po bang recommended belt compatibility, for example, if 5cm ang inner pulley to pulley distance ang belt ay dapat 1 cm smaller lang or puedeng as long as it can stretch?

Thanks.
