You'll spend about 20K for a decent entry level TT (Pro-Ject Debut III or Goldring GR1)

Just my opinion: If you're not yet sure if you really want a turntable but want to listen to LPs as a start, might as well buy an old refurbished turntable.  Prices ranging  from 3K to 8K.  There are a lot of these TTs for sale at the marketplace, or at the shops at the basement of MCS, or at Hyperaudio trading.  Sayang lang if you invest about 20K or so for an entry level TT realizing only at the end na di mo pala trip yung tugtog or, that if you really liked the sound of LPs, for a little more cash, you would have bought yourself a decent mid-level TT  ;)

Cheers

agree with jon agner...i would encourage you to invest in software (LPs) for now then later on invest in a good turntable...for an entry-level, maybe P20k would be fine...but if you're into more serious stuff, then around P50k...thanks!

sirs,

tanong ko lang kung saan pwedeng makabili ng rubber mat for Pioneer TT (substitute may do) and estimate price please?  Meron kasi sa bahay na Pioneer PL-153 TT na balak kong buhayin.

Thanks,

Benedict

Hello Mojo, you can give this a try

http://wiredstate.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11328 (nasa Analog section ng WS entitled "Tweaking with Astonishing Results").

Saw this for only P99 at ACE yesterday, yung mas malaki is P120.

pare, personally i do not recommend this...it leaves some marks on your LP...which di na maalis...and it is also sometimes too thick for your requirement...just my 2-cents...thanks!

actually, just got curious with this after reading the WS thread the reason I looked for it at ACE (but did not buy), but could be a temporary solution while sourcing out as in the case of Mojo, wag mo lang daw iwan LP mo in contact for 3 hours.
In my case, I am using a rubber mat from an old Sansui TT on my Project TT.

mel, di ba masyadong makapal yang rubber mat for the pro-ject tt?? felt mat ang gamit di ba?? unless you'll adjust vta, etc...thanks!!

tama Jen, buti na lang Project TT's VTA is adjustable, may set screw to hold arm in place not like the GR's which need shims as spacers. Am not using the felt mat anymore.... thanks

just started acquiring LPs...problema wala akong turntable. =(
tip naman kung san makakaiskor ng matinong unit na hindi ako mamumulubi.  saw one sa cubao for P1,800 pero loose thread na ung needle. decided against buying it since hindi ko rin maaayos pag natuluyan.

salamat sa magaabala! =)

if the turntable unit's spin is stable and you don't hear any rumbling sound, puwede na yan. kung stylus lang ang kailangan mo, contact members on this forum who could lead you to sources in Raon -- less than P300 for popular cartridge models. Kung sira ang pick-up, i have over a dozen available and maybe i could spare you one. i'm not a trader but i sometimes share some of my gear to guys who want to hear true hifi (not necessarily new production and expensive gear) but don't have the budget for expensive gear. last year, i sold a Technics turntable to a member here for P1K. who knows, i could give an Audio Technica AT-10 cart with original AT-10 stylus and 2 original spare AT11 at only P1K. if you'd check online, a non-original AT-11 stylus sells for roughly $20 each. this is not an offer though, but i do get crazy sometimes.

ok na nga sana un kaso gusto ko sana wala na kong ibang kailangang gawin other than isalang ung album since hindi ako marunong magayos. regarding the noise from the TT itself, un kaya kong icheck (sana lng di ako mabingi sa jukebox hits ngayon dito sa bahay). but the other things, im completely clueless.

this is basically hindi lng para sa kin. actually for my parents talaga. ang daming murang 2nd hand LPs ngayon, yung mga alam kong trip nilang pakinggan. they can't use cd players or my pc, so i thought a turntable is simple enough para maenjoy nila ang music na alam nila even if im out of the house.

offer mo na dre. =)

Getting good music from a turntable requires some patience and technical familiarity with this vintage medium. It could also be very expensive, especially cost of vinyls sold in the market nowadays. Good analog sound requires a lot of cash, unless you're an oldtimer in this game.

If you just want your parents to hear their types of music, there are many file-sharing and low-cost music sites on the web today where you can get old songs that aren't available at local music stores. Almost a decade ago, I downloaded free from Napster and Audio Galaxy (both RIP) a lot of songs from Mantovani, Enoch Light and the Light Brigade, Glenn Miller, etc. for my parents. All you have to do is ask your parents the songs they want and you can get them online, either free or for a marginal cost.

yeah...i actually have lots of mp3 (oooopss..bad word?) in my pc and in discs. problem is, they don't know how to operate a computer or cd player or the likes.  i was thinking, with a turntable, they can just plug it, put on the album, and enjoy. ganun lang. the simpler, the better.

wala sa mga barkada ko ang mahilig sa music other than those stuff you hear on the radio. they love the champions    :o  so wala magtuturo s kin o mapagtatanungan man lang other than online.

Many factors can cause ur problem. Trackng force, anti-skate, overhang of stylus on headshell, etc.

I think you have to re-set the cart on your ttable. Chances are, one or more of the above parameters is off.

May mga lp's pa ako d2 pero hindi ko na napatugtog, dami ko nababasa na masmaganda ang tunog kaysa sa cd curious lang me. Problema ko wala ako alam sa tt and how to repair or modify or to look if its good kung surplus  bilhin ko.

Most likely its a worn or dirty Lp.

It could also be a worn stylus.

Sometimes. setting up of the ttable: Cart overhang, tracking force too low, wrong anti-skate, tonearm bearing worn, etc. can contribute. Ask help from a friend who is knee-deep into analog ;D to check your set-up.
