Where to get OPA2134PA or OPA2604AP OP AMPS
« on: Nov 14, 2005 at 02:40 AM »
Hi Guys,

This is my first post here on the Audio Only Sources, I need some expert advice.  I have a sound card that has upgradable 8pin dual Dip Type OP AMPS.  I know that Audiophiles upgrade OP amps of CD / SACD players to produce exceptional sound.  My Sound Card manufacturer recommends

OPA2134PA  OPA2604AP OP AMPS

Is this good?  If so does anyone know where to get these, and lastly if anyone can recommend an OP AMP thats known to be really good that can fit 8pin Dual Dip Type Sockets.

Thanks in advance!

Jay

I have some samples (OPA2134) with me. Have given this chips to a few of my friends and feedback seems that these are ordinary sounding amps. I can give you one or two samples if you like. Or better, order the OPA2132.

Thanks in advance!

I think AD8066 is a single OPAMP and is different from OPA2134/OPA2132/OPA2604 which is dual!

If you'll either use between AD8066 and OPA627, you need this adapter.

Sir Andy, AD8066 is dual OpAmp (maybe you're refering to AD8065) but requires browndog adaptor from SOIC pkg. to PDIP (it seems SOIC is the only available pkg.).
The OPA627 is the single one (Have both SOIC & PDIP Pkg.), you need 2 OPamp per channel. The attached BD Adaptor is for DIP package.

Try to check the supply voltage for the OPamp if not over 24V then AD8066 is OK. OPA2134/2604/627 have a maximum voltage of 36V (Using digital multi-meter Pin4 & 8)

thanks, I'm no expert in electronics though I have a multimeter, I just stick the prongs to pin 4 and 8, this is while the computer is on correct? where to i turn the dial to on the multimeter?  Don't I need an adaptor for the AD8066, or will it fit in the swappable pin socket?

Thanks odyiopayl

Sorry for my late reply. Your multimeter (preferably digital) should be on DC voltage measuring both Pin4 & 8. AD8066 comes only with SOIC package you still need browndog adaptor then  fit it on the the socket.
