I'll bring my paypal reciept as usual..wag naman sana mainit sa mata ng customs officer yung item ko...

Madami ba tao dyan? Pila? Approx how long yung buong proseso based on previous experience nyo?

Just sharing my experience lately with customs:

A replacement item (electronics) sent from HK, 3 pcs., of declared value = USD$6.

Arrived at my office via DHL ....... customs charges = Php 550 roughly $USD12++

Imagine 200% of the declared value ...... haaays :-[ :-[ :-[

Based on my experience, usually within a week although sometimes umaabot ng 2 weeks before you receive the notice from post office.

Items shipped regular mail from US and China get here 4-7 days. The rest of the time is spent on documenting, handling, and delivery of notice.

If the item is flat enough in a padded envelope you can get lucky and receive it at home in 2 weeks. My record is 1 days. Parcels are available for pickup 3-4 weeks off peak.

Worse I waited was two months. It was due to unreceived notice and they sent a 3rd notice which was what I finally received.

Go the local postal office or get their number, and make a call. normally nandjan na yan documenting and sorting , plus "stocking" sa assessor yan nakaipit

Yup, 100pesos na nga ang postal charge.  Ordered some TT upgrade parts from Malaysia worth over 12K last September 2 but forgot to ask the seller to devalue the cost to 2K and to declare them as gifts.  It took approximately 22 days for the items to arrive here (September 2014) via registered post.  I was forewarned by my friend that the customs tax might be high because of the value of the items so I was anxious and apprehensive to claim earlier in the day.  Luckily, when the customs officer was about to open and inspect my package (that doesn't sound right) their big boss came at nataranta sila.  The big boss was really intimidating and was looking for someone kaya sinamahan na lang nung customs officer at sinabi sa nagreresibo na ok na yung sakin.  Sabi nung kahera na kilala ko nagmahal na raw to P100 pero sa loob loob ko ayus na ayus sakin yun. So ayun, P100 lang binayaran ko yahoo!  ;D
Promise, kape lang.

I was browsing the web and I got into this news:

http://customs.gov.ph/news/2014/11/11/phlpost-customs-to-simplify-examination-and-delivery-of-mail-parcels/

I wonder what impact would this have:
the MOA, PHLPost and BOC shall centralize examination and assessment of customs duties for all parcels and mail matters at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) for those that arrived by air and at the Surface Mail Exchange Department (SMED) for those conveyed by sea. BOC will close down all other customs facilities and operations in other post offices and distribution centers nationwide and designates PHLPost as its authorized collecting agent.

No more customs inspection on philpost offices?

naku philpost na pala mag iinspect, i don't know if its bad or good will still find out, before if my package is <=2000 php(by presenting paypal invoice or proof of payment) i don't pay tax and duties just the mandatory post office storage fee of 60 pesos.
so maybe before you can claim your parcel there's already an invoice from BOC attached to your package on how much you will be paying for tax/duties. ang mahirap nito you cannot contest the fee pag andun na unlike before na I can present a proof of payment to the BOC inspector on how much do i really paid for the items.

This is good if it will indeed be faster. I also hope they deliver to your door steps this time.

We must advise merchants to provide a full receipt in the packages. Some HK merchants tend to declare all shipped items as gifts. This will cause delays. I assume any dispute will be discussed at the central office. That will be a hassle indeed.

PHLPost, BOC ink MOA to simplify examination and delivery of mail parcels

The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) inked a landmark memorandum of agreement (MOA) that will make the process of clearing and delivery of parcels and other mail matters faster and simpler, benefitting thousands of consumers and Philippine residents who rely on the postal service to send and receive packages from abroad.

The MOA rationalizes and simplifies the joint operations and customs processes between PHLPost and BOC, superseding policies and procedures that have not been updated since 1973.

“This refinement in the processes will be beneficial to the common Filipino, the Filipino worker, and the Filipino family who receive gifts and buy items from abroad. The streamlined method will speed up the system with a centralized design in collecting duties and taxes so that items get released faster. It took painstaking efforts from the present administration of both PHLPost and BOC to synergize and institute significant reforms, but more than the profit, our ultimate goal is to serve the people, especially that the holiday season is coming,” said PHLPost postmaster general and CEO Josie dela Cruz.

Under the MOA, PHLPost and BOC shall centralize examination and assessment of customs duties for all parcels and mail matters at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) for those that arrived by air and at the surface mail exchange department (SMED) for those conveyed by sea. BOC will close down all other customs facilities and operations in other post offices and distribution centers nationwide and designates PHLPost as its authorized collecting agent.

Both agencies will adopt a system for screening, sorting and inspection of all letters, parcels and express mail items, including procedures for items tagged for further examination. BOC will ensure 24/7 manning of customs examination and assessment operations at both CMEC and SMED. The MOA further states a customs clearance time of 24 hours from arrival at CMEC or SMED for time-sensitive mail like the Express Mail Service, 48 hours for registered mail and small packets, and 72 hours for air parcels, and surface mail except for items tagged for further examination. PHLPost will set up help desks to contact addressees of mail matters for tax dues based on customs’ assessment, before delivery right at the doorstep of the claimant’s house.

All mail and parcels may be subject to customs examination, duties, taxes and other fees. The agreement provides convenience—clear, simple and transparent processes for assessment, appraisal and collection of customs duties and other import charges from letter posts, parcel posts and express mail items.

The improvements to the interoperability and regulations between the two agencies are also expected to attune the handling of mail matters with current market demands and service standard requirements of the Universal Postal Union and the World Customs Organization. It also augurs well for the country’s compliance with Asean integration incorporating borderless trade and economies.
