bought a 5-disc NAD cd player...its model is 505. checked the net including their homepage but found no model for 505..was wondering if its fake but its construction is good and solid. =)

yo bro,

i don't think its fake? but its an old model na talaga! we've been using the NAD 505 for 2 years na and ok naman ang performance and sound nya! you can even buy a remote at deeco for your convenience.

got worried kasi yong carousel nya medyo nagpapause kung nagdidisc change ako..alam mo ba anong cable gagamitin duon sa digital out nya? at paano gagana yong remote eh wala naman syang sensor sa harap =)

have the same player for amost 3 years now, only probem is its being choosy. even some original cds just wont play. hooked it with my nad receiver via nad link for the remote but still cant program the tracks unless you have the supplied remote. btw i also hooked it to a musical fidelity x-dac for hdcd compatibility since this is really an old model.

san kayo naka bili ng MF x-dac at magkano? meron din ako nung luma na NAD 502, it sounds great and all, pero syempre, upgrade.

hey foxyyy,

i also once owned a nad 505, but too bad, out of commission na. the cd transport conked out on me, typical problem with mechanical / moving parts. so if you want to further the life of that wonderful player, don't use shuffle / random mode that often when playing cds. (para di malaspag kaagad yung transport).

i also wondered if it was an original nad cd player. i also surfed the net for info, pero wala akong makita. look at the back of your player if it has a serial number.

please pm me on where you bought the player (address, tel no., etc.)... bili ulit ako, yung single disc na nga lang.

yo foxyyy : m using van den hul cable and my yamaha avr's universal remote for simple cd operations.

i think bro hyperaudio has NAD CD players for sale.

Hello, I own both 505 and 502 plus some NAD amps and recievers.
The 502 and 505 models are real NAD players. These are 1993 models but NAD did not change these models for a long time. Unlike japanese brands which upgrade yearly.
very popular in Stereo Review magazines Etc. Being sold that time for $300-$400.
US. and european models share the same 505 or 502 codes.
Bought mine in the states
Both are still running perfectly.

got disappointed cause my 1-month old NAD 505 had a technical problem. it can't read a disc anymore, anyway, sent it back to the shop where i bought it since she gave me a 1-month warranty.

their technician diagnosed the problem as something got stuck inside the carousel and was getting the cd lens dirty. he took the "thing" & cleaned the lens with just a soft cotton. after that...

WOW! my cd player was working again! it played ALL KINDS OF CDS: original, pirated, CDR and CDRW. was wondering why u guys had problems with the pirated discs...

just hope that this player could serve me for a little more months before it conks out again..cause am having my sights for this new SACD player from sony

what do you think of the NAD T550 dvd player? it's an older model but it sounded real good at avdi, it's got the same burr-brown dac as the arcam cd72 and it's allegedly the same cd machine as the c540 only with video added. doesn't play my cd-r's, though.

I recently got this cd player to replace my Samsung dvd player as a music source. It sounded ok when I auditioned it at AV Surfer with a NAD T741 receiver and Definitive Technology speakers certainly better than the Sony DVD player that they had hooked up. However, when I brought it home and hooked it up to a NAD C320BEE and Wharfedale Diamond 8.1s music exhibited harshness and some tracks that sounded quite good on my dvd player were now difficult to listen to. I searched the web and came across a suggestion in audioreview.com to invert my speaker connections as the player could exhibit phase inversion. Tried it and viola! full bodied sound with focused mid-range and tight bass.

Can somebody please explain why this (phase inversion by the source) could happen? Will the remedy lead to shortening my amp's or speakers lives?
