Is Sukob the best Filipino Horror movie ever made? Personally, those Shake, Rattle, and Roll series are over rated.

Just bought 'Bulaklak Ng Maynila' DVD (The First Release).

Na-tempt akong bilhin because of the special features said on the cover like:
- Freeview
- Star on the Rise
- Direction

Pero when I watched it at home... The only links on the menu were:

- Play Movie
- Scene Selection

Kaya nadala na ako na bumili ng Viva DVDs..

 >:( >:( >:(

I agree on this. It looks like most VIVA DVD's special features are not included in the DVD.

Off Topic, I just realized, GMA Records DVD's of the teleseryes doesn't include English subtitles like

Encantadia
Marimar
Dyesebel
Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang

I do hope on their future releases, they include as well more special features and subtitles for the world market.

Hi sir, curious lang ako. Where did you buy these titles? I'm also in search for these VCDs. Thanks.

thanks for the address sir!

I bought Sanda Wong at Landmark in Trinoma (I was surprised that after reading Sir Noel Vera's review about Sanda Wong, through meticulous browsing in Tagalog section, I came across with this title and without thinking twice, I grabbed it) I even asked the saleslady if there's a DVD counterpart...unfortunately (the answer is as good as my guess).. there's still a copy left (only if no one interested in the movie).  The saleslady even laughed a little while reading the titles I bought (she's thinking why in the world I'm buying old films wherein majority of the buyers in that record bar prefers foreign titles).  The title is for PHP 150 buy 1 take 1 so I have to find another VCD for the promo and I picked Ibong Adarna which has lots of copies ( I even saw Ibong Adarna in SM Megamall Department Store, MOA Astroplus and Video City, Megamall)

Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi is also available in Landmark, Trinoma and Video Section in Department Store of Megamall for PHP 99 pesos.

Pila Balde is also available in Astroplus, MOA and Video City in Megamall for PHP 155 or PHP 150.

By the way I managed to  get a copy of Hesus Rebolusyonaryo (there's only one copy left) in Astroplus, Trinoma.

my latest dvd purchase is BAYANING THIRD WORLD and the copy is so good for PHP 100

Sukob can be a cinematic treat to viewer's eyes but I think it wasn't the best horror movie ever made but I do enjoy watching this movie.  With regards to scare tactics (the typical "gulat" scenes accompanied by intense, sudden drumbeat or sound effects), they served their purpose well.  Storywise, uhm just read some of the comments posted by the legends here about the movie.

Try to watch Itim, Shake Rattle and Roll 2 (Aswang Episode), the Original Shake Rattle and Roll (Borlaza, Bernal and Gallaga), Shake Rattle and Roll 3 (Ate Episode) and Pasiyam.  These are some of the good horror movies (not necessarily with gross monsters and scary in the sense of you weren't even scream for it) with good story as well.  I also find Ang Pamana (Romeo Candido) a good horror film.

I agree with fitz_gerald, I had recently watched ITIM and it is one of the best and low budgeted Horror films I've ever watched.

It's been a while since my last purchase of Pinoy DVD/VCD...urgh! my finances won't allow me to buy every title I wanted to be part of my collection...

my latest purchases by the way are the ff.:

DVDs

MAGNIFICO - PHP395 (2 more copies available at SM Megamall Astroplus)

RIZAL - PHP350 (One copy left in the shelves of SM Megamall Astroplus)

VCD

SANTIAGO - PHP150 (just recently released and lots of copies seen in Odyssey and Astroplus branches)

(as usual very poor, incomplete copy/transfer... if not for this good film of FPJ and the great Lino Brocka... I can save my hard earned 150 pesos!)

I've just received CineFilipino's Sakay DVD as a birthday present.  I haven't seen it yet but I sampled it and the transfer looks excellent  and it's in widescreen.  The only disappointing thing is that it says in the box that there are English subtitles but there are none.

Kimmy Dora P450 with English subtitles option
Includes some special features(behind the scenes, viral videos, etc.)
Still funny though they didn't remaster it for video. Hindi ganun ka-sharp, parang sa sine pa rin.

Is this the R1 DVD or is there already a local release?
