about hack-a-shaq --

from Stever Kerr's column:

"ADJUSTMENT OF THE GAME

With 2:05 to go and Miami up 89-85, the Heat were preparing to take the ball out of bounds when Avery Johnson screamed at his team to wrap up O'Neal and send him to the line. (The Hack-a-Shaq strategy can't be used with less than two minutes left in the game). So as his team prepared to inbound the ball, Riley saw the Dallas plan, called timeout and got Shaq out of the game."

sir hack-a-shaq would have been done around the 5min. mark till just before the last 2 mins. kasi kung within the last 2 mins., hindi na hack-a-shaq yun, its plain foolishness or stupidity nung coach (a.j)

it would be foolish to do a hack a shaq in the 5min mark since the game is close and the mavs might get into foul trouble outside the 2 mins mark and also the mavs on the floor are in foul trouble or near foul trouble...

watched the game again last night, grabe ang commercial ng channel 9 nakatulog ako sa haba ng commercials,
the mavs forgot their run and gun game they heavily relied on the jumpers, they live and died on jumpshots...

more on quinito: there's this shot of pat riley reading his kodigo...(defense/offense) sabi ni quinito "riley's in prayer daw" HA! tapos the never ending "dont estimate the heart of the champions" and to think first time pa lang these two teams to play in the finals (yah i know shaq is a champion before pero stop with the cliche already...)

There are times when I wish Henson would just SHUT UP!  :P

That's why I prefer watching it on Solar Sports. Kaso, nakakabooset naman yung dami ng ads (yeah, I know, dito lang sila kumikita)

iba rin mag motivate si "The Great" Pat Riley

Quote
But the unveiling of the mystery bowl and the retelling of the tightrope-walker story revealed the truth, and this one may go down as one of Riley's best motivational messages ever. Another good one: Riley once put a large bucket of ice water in front of him and told his team: "If you want to win a championship, you have to want it…"

Stopping in mid-sentence, Riley plunged his head into the water and kept it there for several seconds, which turned into a minute, which turned into even more than a minute. His players sat dumbfounded, watching, until Riley finally pulled his head out of the water and finished his sentence:

"…like it's your last breath."

kaya nga hack-a-shaq...sacrifice players commit foul on shaq kasi di magaling si shaq sa free throws eh kung close game good as missed free throws na yun di ba? ok lang foul out c erica dampr, mbenga at diop, alangan naman di dirkN jasonT o joshH magpa-foul kay shaq. ;D

In the PBA in the 90s, I remember Quinito making this comment after a very light foul on Alvin Patrimonio (I think)... Imagine Quinito shouting this in his OA hyper voice...

"Alvin was battered, beaten, and bruised as he made that attempt from under the boards!!!!" ...eh reaching in foul lang naman...  ;D

I miss Joe Cantada's very colorful play by plays...

hehehe, everything ata ini exag nya.

OT to...ever since Patrimonio retired, parang wala pako nakita na maka duplicate sa inside prowess nya and his ferociousness sa  pivot moves....halatang Purefoods ba ako nun?  hehe...I don't follow the PBA religiously anymore unlike in the late 80's and 90's, but i can't seem to know a set of superstars that really dominates the PBA on a consistent basis...or I'm just not in circle anymore...

A champion coach fired replaced by an unproven GM... yikes... good luck Knicks... Being a good player doesn't mean one can automatically be a good coach... I'd like to see Brown move to New Jersey (if they're hiring) and see what he can do with Kidd and Carter...

NJ Nets or should i say Brooklyn Nets have already a brilliant coach,
sana Charlotte would chase LB since MJ and LB have  NC connection..

but with 40M in the bank i would just rest for ...........a year or two maybe and play golf...  ;D

Larry Brown is not the only good coach without a job now.  Personally, I'd like the Timberwolves to get Adelman.  L.Brown, I couldn't care less.  Btw, his $40M from the Knicks is not a sure thing yet... they're (Knicks) currently contesting it.. chances are they will reach a compromise somewhere in the middle.  I'd take that $20M any time.  ;D

Technologically-advanced game ball has new design, better grip and consistency

NBA INTRODUCES NEW GAME BALL

NEW YORK, June 28, 2006 – The NBA is introducing a new Official Game Ball for play beginning in the 2006-07 season. The new ball, manufactured by Spalding, features a new design and a new material that together offer better grip, feel, and consistency than the current leather ball. This marks the first change to the ball in over 35 years and only the second in 60 seasons. In 1970, the ball was transitioned from a four panel to an eight panel ball. NBA Commissioner David Stern, Spalding Group Vice President Dan Touhey, NBA Sr. Vice President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson, Boston Celtics’ Forward Paul Pierce, and NBA on TNT analyst and two-time NBA champion Kenny Smith unveiled the new Game Ball today at the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue prior to the 2006 NBA Draft.

The new ball features Spalding’s Cross Traxxion™ technology, a union of revolutionary design and breakthrough material. The design is comprised of two interlocking, cross-shaped panels rather than the eight oblong panels found on traditional basketballs. As a result, there is more material coverage. The material is a microfiber composite with moisture management that provides superior grip and feel throughout the course of a game. Additionally, the new composite material eliminates the need for a break-in period, which is necessary for the current leather ball, and achieves consistency from ball to ball.

"The advancements that Spalding has made to the new game ball ensure that the best basketball players in the world will be playing with the best basketball in the world," said Stern.

The NBA and Spalding subjected the ball to a rigorous evaluation process that included laboratory and on-court testing. Every NBA team received the new ball and had the opportunity to use it in practice. The ball also was tested in the NBA Development League and was used in activities during NBA All-Star 2006 in Houston. NBA retired players Steve Kerr and Mark Jackson participated in testing the new ball as well.

“Spalding’s continual efforts to advance basketball technology have yielded the optimal ball, one that is worthy of the new Official NBA Game Ball designation,” said Spalding Group President and CEO Scott Creelman. “We are honored that the NBA collaborated with us to make this change.”

The ball will be used in all NBA events leading up to next season including summer leagues, preseason and training camps, and NBA Europe Live presented by EA Sports. All active players will receive a personalized ball, as will each player selected in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Fans will have an opportunity to see the new ball tonight during the 2006 NBA Draft televised live on ESPN at 7 p.m. EST. The ball will hit store shelves at major sporting goods outlets on October 31 coinciding with the tip-off of the 2006-07 season. A limited number of new balls will be available today at the world’s only NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Fans can also pre-order their new ball online at NBAStore.com for delivery at the start of the 2006-07 season.

As the Official Game Ball supplier of the NBA since 1983, Spalding will continue to produce the only basketball used during all NBA practices, exhibitions, games and international compet1t1ons. Spalding maintains the exclusive rights to produce and sell a complete line of NBA and team-identified basketballs in all sizes including full, junior, youth and mini.
