By the way I am impressed with the Sony V's PAP feature.

2 screens can be shown simultaneously - even if the other one is on 1080i and the other one is just a Cable Channel.

My 1080i source is the Gran Turismo 4 by the way.

Hi!

I'm deciding on which to get...

Sony KLV-40X200A or the Hitachi 42PD8900TA (42-inch plasma)

I already have the samsung 32 inch bordeaux(sp?) playing the xbox 360 looks good but dvd movies and tv programs are kinda pixelated.

My question is, which of the 2 tv would be better for dvd/hd dvd and tv programs?

Thanks

Pls so reply, I'm going to buy before Dec 25 :)

Yup. The X Series is already a Full HD 1080p LCD TV.

Ptoys,

Try to audition the 2 using your own DVD Player to come up with the decision.
I cannot comment on the Hitachi but there was a post somewhere in the Flat Panels thread that the Sony X Series is very good on DVD Source.

Cheers.

Thanks nels76. Do you think the price of 40X200A worth it? i'm torn between the V series 40" and this one. I'll be using it basically for DVD viewing. Thanks again bro ;D

Went to ansons kanina, spent 1 1/2hrs testing different tvs, after multiple testing with multiple movies, I decided to get the Hitachi. I was impress with the sony bravia x series(40inch)lcd, I tested it side by side with the v2 series, x series showed less pixel, colors looks about the same in my eyes, but when I tested the same pirated movies sa Hitachi, colors were so nice and real :) I also like the power swivel for couch potatoes :)

Thanks for the help guys.... :D

Hi Folks,

Noob here in this forum been a lurker for awhile (just registered now).....recently bought a Sony 46" LCD TV model KDL-46XBR2.  Bought it from an online E-tailer (no sales tax and free shipping) during the Black Friday sales event here in the states.  Took advantage when prices were reduce and Sony promotional financing of no payments until Jan. 2009.  The TV is amazing especially when viewing HDTV broadcast (OTA) football games NFL and NBA, viewing SD (Direct TV source) is not bad either since my wife and I watched TFC a lot.  One thing I learned the TV is made in Mexico....I'll post a pic once I got everything in place hinihintay ko pa kasi yung media center cabinet na inorder ko.  The Sony replaced my 55" Mitsubishi (HDTV) RPTV - Diamond series moved to the basement.  Question - is TFC going to be broadcast in HDTV? Take care!!

oo nga nalilito din ako eh pinagpipilian ko sharp aquos 32" or ito v300 kasi may htib na and hdmi cable and to think maganda din naman quality ng sony kung mas maganda man yung sa sharp konti lang naman siguro difference nila. anyway kahit alin naman sa kanila enjoy pa rin.

Let your own eyes decide.  The thing is,the color gamut of different brands are always different..Don't rely on paper specs.  Iba-iba ang taste ng engineers ng Sony and Sharp (these basic differences are clearly noticeable sa videocams as well) and hindi standardized ang method of testings (especially the contrast ratio).  While the general opinion in Japan is that Sharp color is more natural (warmer, red is redder, white is whiter, black is blacker) as opposed to Sony's (red tends to be magenta, white is bluish, black is dull), that is still subjective and you'd only notice them if you examine very closely side by side using actual HD broadcast..Eh wala naman non sa atin.   And kung color blind ka, you might never know the difference.   The thing is, marami ring may gusto ng Sony look and right now, Sony is making tons of money from their Bravia line .  So you're back to the first sentence...Let your own eyes decide.

OT yata ako.  Sorry.  Anyway, I think 55K is a fair price.  Sayang yung almost 20K na difference kung CC gagamitin.

I like the trend!  At this rate, by December, a 32" can be had for less than 40k!

you can add extra cash to upgrade it to the higher end models.

the best model for sony is the muteki model. its 6.2 (not typo) sound system with karaoke functionality.. i think it even has hdmi and stuff..
heard it at sony showrrom b4, got power.. lots of it... might no pass an audio critic.. but if your not too sensitive its good. Its floow standing speakers, default sub is passive so you need add even more cash to make it an active cash.

yup pwede. pero pwedi rin yung buy back. sa area namin tumatanggap sila ng buy back. alam ko 20k yung worth ng free HTIB sa bravia. pero pwedi i negotiate na i less na lang sa actual price kung hindi mo kukunin yung free HTIB. but not at the price of 20k. 10k yung buy back price nila. fair enough specially kung mas gusto mo yung HT setup talaga. cash basis to. so kuha mo dapat ng 45k yung lcd. goodluck!

Just to clarify, yung 55k promo only applies to 32u300a not the 32v300a.

I bought the 32v300a at a well disounted price.

Official Sony, cash price for the v300a is 65k w/ the freebies.

remember the 20% cash discount rule and try to use this as a basis if a deal is good or not :)

I tried my best to have them lower the price without the freebies, pero ayaw talaga eh.
Well nag offer sakin yung sales nila na bilhin yung HT for 5k. Iyon lang hehe.
Anyway, since I had it for about a day I was finally able to tinker with it.

My findings (this is my first lcdtv so baka yung ibang points ko hindi valid)

Pros:
*Build quality is good.
*Gaming with xbox360 is really great. You can see all the eye candy.
*Can accept 1080p signal but downscaled back to 720p, tried this with xbox360 and it works.
*Standard tv viewing is decent, please note it is still below CRT quality, but comparing it with samsung
r and s 81 series, and sharp BX series, I personally think it is better.
*Using VGA as a source (connected via laptop), 720p videos were good, even the lower quality videos that I downloaded
played well. Comparing it with my computer LCD (samsung 940bw), I think the v300 is better.
*The audio source for the VGA is an earphone jack, so madali i-connect sa laptop or pc.
*Black levels are definitely better than my pc LCD.
*adjustable yung black levels (low medium high)
*there is an option to fix vcd / mpeg noise and it seems to work well
*Wireless headphones were very useful. The TV allotted a different volume setting for the headphone
so you can mute your TV set and enjoy the sounds from the headphone.

Cons:
*Mapping the channels can be a pain as you have to put them in a certain order
If you take out something in the middle, uurong lahat ng channels.
*I think the factory settings is a bit too bright for my liking
medyo sumakit yung mata ko for the first 30 minutes of playing xbox
might need the avia disc for this
*Speaker sound is so-so
Comparing with my 4 year old sony sdtv, the older tv sounds better
(my old tv has subwoofer on top of it built in, so maybe this is one of the reasons)
*Slow to channel surf when compared to my sdtv
*You insert the coaxial cable sa side. I personally did not like this, then again I guess
they placed it there kasi pwede mo i-wall mount. But for people like me who place their
TV on the ever trusty table feel ko masama tingnan.
*Need to add around 6999 pesos to avail of the home theater with dvd upscaler.
*Free wireless headphone seems very fragile. I dont think it will last very long.

never send a 1080p signal to 720p panel.

the 7k add on to get only a dvd upscaler is not a good buy... but if it also upgades the whol HTIB (ex. mor epower, better looking speakers etc.) then its still ok
