I wonder how it compares to the Rotel RCD 06 player?

overall, its a good cd player at par with the rcd06, and the nad 542c. the downside is that, if used with a system with enough resolution, it starts to show treble harshness in some passages...same goes for the rcd06 and the nad 542c.

compared with the rotel, the azur has more forward vocals and emphasized mids. the nad c542 has a more relaxed character.

i would still go for the rotel rcd06 at this price point

i believe the rotel rcd06 is priced at around 27k, and nad542 is around 21k and cam azur540 is around 17k.

the 540 is more comparable with the 525bee, they have diff sound characteristic, well actually they have opposite. i would go for nad as they are more relaxed and has more weight(sonically).

Cambridge audio are being distributed by 5th AVE(shang/SM malls), check out their prices.
NAD distributors are audio amplified,hi-fi lounge,many more.
check out Rotel cdp prices at sound dimension in parksquare and architectural audio in greenbelt 1.
audition them.

saw that CD player yesterday at 5th ave SM north,17,9++ price less 5% daw,but unfortunately i din not audition it,ung 340 ung naka hook and ganda ng tunog mas lalo na cguro ung 540.

cambridge, nad, rotel, they are all good cdps at this price point. the final analysis will depend on the associated equipment and personal taste & sonic preference of the listener.

probably the azur 540c...ask for 10% discount on cash basis bibigay sila dun, pero syempre go muna for 15%.

I got my 540C at Avesco Cubao at a discount of 15% on the SRP price last December. I enjoy and have no regrets in purchasing the unit. Its a great sounding player paired with 640A and a Radia x3 speakers.

why not buy a rotel para same brand na gamit mo.

i auditioned some cd players earlier and im inclined to get the NAD. they put me to sleep faster... plus the cambridge is too sensitive.

i suggest you go with the rotel, it's a better match with your amp.

Yup, leaning to get the Rotel cdp nga - the pre-owned price given to me sounds reasonable naman compared to its 28k msrp.
But if you'll permit me to think out loud - just how big a difference kaya would this Rotel cdp sound compared to a Pioneed dv600 kaya which they say has better DACs than previous?

While I do know that dedicated cdp players are better sounding than dvd players - di ko lang alam kung gaano kalaki? Sabi kasi ng ibang peeps sa Wiredstate na konti lang daw - that is if you could even hear the diff

The only reason I'm looking at a DVD player also as an alternative is because I share my audio setup here in our bdrm with my wife's TV/DVD watching

Yup, thought of that as well - I guess its the only and best solution. As for the seller of the Rotel, he's from QC and I'm in the south - matagal na maibabalik yan if ever
