Not exactly the same setup, but I've been using 4 ohm front speakers for decades and 4 ohm center speakers in the past few years. Not one amplifier section in any entry/mid-level receiver I've used has failed. No, I don't use the 4 or 6 ohm impedance switch (added on most receivers few years ago), I stick to the default 8 ohm impedance. I do set all speakers to small, provide adequate ventilation for the receiver and back up on the volume when I hear distortion.

Quote from: http://www.audioholics.com/audio-amplifier/impedance-selector-switch-1/amplifier-and-power-supply-basics
In speaking with Yamaha, they told me they could not confirm any failures of receivers directly attributed to running the high impedance mode with 4 ohm speakers. Their power supply / amplifier failure rate hasn't changed with the inclusion of the impedance selector switch on their A/V receivers.

2017 Denon initial line-up -- coming soon!

it's good that they raised the bar on these S-series models...

Hello guys. Just want to ask if any has experienced or experiencing in delays when using blutooth to play audio through their Denons? Particularly the Denon AVRX1300W.

I auditioned it last week and there is a delay when switching from one song to the other when I connected my Iphone. Just want to check if this is a common thing or if there is anything we can do to fix it.

Thanks!

^ hi sir, I listen to my x1300w bluetooth with my android phone, though...  and I notice no delay when switching with the next song.. with 1 second perhaps, but this should be understandable...

with the delay you've experienced, does the song already started (with time moving past 00:00:00) before you hear it from x1300w or the next song totally starts after the a while but it's sync with the Denon?  how long is the delay, 2-3secs?

I recall that I already pressed the next song on my phone and it already switched to the next song, but the receiver is still playing the previous song with about 2 second delay.

Is this normal for Denons? I also auditioned the Onkyo 343 and there's no delay when I switch songs, although I am more keen on getting the Denon for other reasons, obviously.

hmmm.. that's 'really' a (irritating) delay, then =(

my nephew once connected thru bluetooth with his IPhone 6, but can't recall if we experienced it...  will try again, but still using my Android.

I think its normal, kasi nung audition ko yung x2200 ng Denon yan din na experience ko sa kanya kahit yung Onkyo may ganyang issue din, but after updating yung firmware ng Onkyo ko nawala na delay nya.

Gano katagal yung delay sa x2200? I tried the Onkyo and walang delay, baka updated firmware na yun.

yeah!  maybe for your model there's a new one.  did they say which feature added or upgraded?

I checked earlier and there's none yet for my x1300w.  the latest firmware update was on Mar2017, though... saying it's "for improved performance".

I'm waiting if they will include a feature upgrade of HLG for our 2015/2016 models (wishful thinking) hehe

i don't know about the other bluetooth enabled receivers but denons  use very old bluetooth technology. Nakakainis.

sa apple products you're better off using Airplay instead of bluetooth. It's far more responsive and the sound quality for me is much better.

found this!  it's good for those who might need Dolby Vision & HLG.  unfortunately, only 2016 models and up are going to benefit...

my denon avr s720 just prompted me for a firmware update. in usual denon fashion there's no word anywhere online regarding the specifics of the update. No release notes to be seen

BTW, where have you sourced your avr s720?  thought they weren't become available in PH like s920.  TIA!

Question here for Denon X1300W.

I can't enable "Pure Direct" option in my unit. When I press the Pure button in the remote it only cycles through Direct and Auto mode. It should cycle to Auto/Direct/Pure Direct.
I've already tried resetting the microprocessor but I'm still having the same issue. Any help? thanks

I verified this with denon support

"Yes, I confirmed with my X1300W here that it does have Pure Direct. Let us know if the reset doesn't correct it.

Thanks,
Denon NA"

Just wondering if the X1300W we have locally is the same SKU. Just saw you have X1300W also so no Pure Direct on your unit as well?

amazon. I usually get my AVRs from them since the prices there are much cheaper even if you include Johnny Air type shipping to Manila.

i'm itching of going Amazon route too!  firstly because the 2017 Denon/Marantz we don't know when are they coming in PH...

mind if I ask if a sales tax is added on amazon purchase?  and hm JAC shipping for AVRs weighing like s720 (around 11kgs range)?  TIA!

sales tax is added but it depends on where the item will be initially sent to.
I forgot how much exactly the shipping cost was. Note lang that the shipping weight includes the outer boxes as well.

if you're referring to import tax, wala.
if you're referring to the US state tax meron. Depende kung sa anong site ka bibili chaka kung saan mo ipapadeliver na state.
