Hi guys!

I just bought a Next Base 800 player as replacement for my more than 2 y.o. NB656.   It has most of the standard specs except the memory stick port.  It costs P2.3K at Automatic Center in G4.  Im in the "burn-in" stage at the moment and will let you know how it performs.

But does anybody have had any experience on this model?

How are Nextbase dvd players? I saw one in Ambassador Virra mall that upscales to 1080p, black with hdmi cable na. But its around 4,400 pesos ata. Do they read all disc with no prob?

I'm curious as well.  Nag-demo yun sales clerk and upscaled to 720 and maganda yun PQ.

This player can recognize hard drive partitioned in FAT32 (max 32GB). It can even accept a maximum of 2 partition (32GB each). You just need an enclosure for your hard drive so you could plug it in the USB port.

I just bought nb 895, so far so good nman, it can play anything I throw in it.

but i really cant test dts, component and hdmi kc i'm just using composite.

One glitch though...

I bought a hdmi to dvi cable. I connected it to my korean lcd tv but the lcd cannot detect the signal. I dont know if its the lcd or the dvd player.

Any suggestion on how I can sort this out.

Have you tried to configure your player to output signal via HDMI?

It's located in the setup menu.

Initally you can set it up on your composite connection, then check if it'lll work.

Happy Watching. ;)

For NB895

You can easily switch output(YUV interlace/YUV composite/HDMI) signal because there is a dedicated button. Component/YUV must be disabled so that HDMI can be enabled. I checked that YUV can upscale up to 1080p/1080i but switching to HDMI will only allow up to 720. I have not verified this yet because my lcd tv cannot detect the signal via hdmi-vgi connection. Need to go back to abenson to test the hdmi using the adaptor. If it works, then my lcd tv is the problem.

This player cannot play yet H.264. It will only play the audio if wrapped together in an avi container.

Anyone know of a good standalone tuner? Yung may hdmi in or pag wala kahit composite lang tapus may rgb/vgi/hdmi output.

I am an owner of a NB895 and using HDMI connection. It can upscale to 1080P 60Hz or 50Hz flawlessly. I am very happy with its performance so far - very good menus, functions are easy to use (from DVD to USB, fast forward, time search, ...) Aesthetically, it looks very nice as well with the piano black finish and very minimal lights.

In terms of comparison, personally, its a bit better than Extreme and Phillips 5986 both at 1080P. For me, PQ is cleaner and fast moving scenes pan smoothly. The free HDMI cable is high quality as well.

Downside is its quite pricey.

I think it can only upscale thru HDMI, there was no difference in PQ when I tried upscaling thru component

Recently bought the NB-895 with 1080p upscaler. Mated it with my Toshiba 37CV500 and bought Planet Earth DVD. One word. AMAZING!!!

First time I saw my LCD TV played HDTV quality similar to those display units at the appliance centers. Sulit na sulit talaga.

Also watch Godfather 1 to 3 (marathon), ang linaw. Ganda ganda!

currently po kasi ang gamit ko is nb-832 (using 1080i via component)

i think kung tv mo 40" and below, no difference.  actually i have a difficult time distinguishing 1080i and 1080p

sorry for the delayed response

first, connect the dvd player and the lcd using the Video RCA plug, don't use HDMI.  then change use on lcd(input/signal via AV).  you'll get the signal andview the player again.  press the setup button on the remote of the dvd player.  go to PREFERENCE (the last icon to the right) and menu down to DEFAULT. press RESET.  That's it.  of course, connect again the player and lcd using HDMI cable.  ;D
