Yikes didn't notice if Smallville sets were on sale. Maybe Mr. Hankey saw them since he was there a bit earlier than me.

It's a nice thing I didn't go and went to the SM Manila sale instead. Narnia was also available at P299 (Video City) but passed on it. Saw nothing worth buying.

I'll just wait for X3.

I think the best deals would be VIVA's FOX titles, since even the new releases (including double disc sets like Walk The Line) are at 299.

Mostly the older titles are on sale for the other companies. I think the newest Magna titles I saw going at 333 were 13 Going on 30: Fun and Flirty Edition, Red Eye, Elizabethtown and Rent.

For those into Hallmark titles, the single disc titles like Moby Dick are as low as 150. The Tenth Kingdom (3 Disc) is down to 475 from 650.

The Jurassic Park Trilogy boxed set was selling for 1500, but ran out within an hour. Not sure if they replenished stocks.

After braving a 2-hour traffic from Magallanes to Guadalupe, I arrived at Podium at 2 pm today. I don't have my receipt now, so I'll just try to remember what I got:

1. Transporter 2 - P299
2. In Her Shoes - P299
3. The Family Stone - P299
4. Must Love Dogs - P275
5. Rumor Has It - P350
6. Bewitched - P333
7. The Squid and the Whale - P333
8. The Legend of Zorro - P333
9. Zathura - P333
10. Duma - P275
11. Elizabethtown - P333

The following are in my wishlist but I did not get them because they are either out of stock (OOS) or still expensive:

1. The Fog - only the budget edition is available
2. Nanny McPhee - OOS
3. Aeon Flux - P650
4. When A Stranger Calls - P650
5. Capote - P650
6. Mirrormask - OOS
7. Yours, Mine & Ours - P650

Went to SM Manila too (3 Day Sale)... no 5% cash discount here...

Chronicles of Narnia at 350 (Astro) and 299 (SM, Odyssey)

Walk The Line (299)

Into the Blue (350)

Family Stone (299 yata)

Chicken Little (299)

Die Hard (299 - SM)

Sound of Music 40th Anniv (299 - everywhere)

Magnavision titles - NOT on sale here, regular price.

C Interactive titles P49 reduction to P250 for most titles.

****************

I think most of those Warner titles (275), Harry Potter (375), Smallville (1750), Batman Anthology (1250) etc are permanent price reduction... you get those at the same price even during non-sale and at PinoyDVD.biz. I am not 100% sure though, as I didn't check each one of them against PinoyDVD current prices.

*****************

Q: Wala bang 199 Disney sa Astro Podium like they had at MOA?

******************
Hope they add more titles during the weekend, kasi it seems that it is not living up to the hype.  Most of the titles are staples of sale (Walk The Line lang ang bagong addition from the MOA sale).  That is as per forum postings, as hindi pa ako naka-punta sa Podium during the current sale... so hopefully I am wrong...

Nope. They're at 299.

Quote

Let's see:

All VIVAs except The Wild are selling for 299.

Warners are already low-priced,  so an additional 25-50 bucks looks like the best they can do. I was able to pick up Corpse Bride for just 275, and I doubt they can drop these imported DVD-9's to under 200.

Magnas retail for 895, and they're almost all at 333.

Hallmark titles are down, ranging from 150 (single disc) to 425 (triple disc).

On top of that is the 5% discount for cash purchases.

I'm curious: What more were you guys expecting?  ???

I went there to buy constantine expecting it to be P275 just like in MOA (which i didnt had the chance to buy).  But the price is P350.  Mas mura yung sale sa MOA and SM makati.

Oo nga. I thought it will be an explosion compared to the big blast sale of MOA. Oh well, over-rated... Not worth going through all the fallen trees, brown-outs and stuff.

Got NARNIA, and BATMAN ANTHOLOGY box set for my nephew and niece yesterday. WALK THE LINE is also good catch.

I'm still hoping that GLADIATOR SE R3 will lower the price from P999 to P750 probably.  ;)

Allanmandy, CAPOTE was selling at P475 if I'm not mistaken. My friend grab it from the stocks.

Who else saw Constantine at MOA selling for 275? According to upinsmoke, it was also being sold for 350 at that sale. On the same thread, jinjin said it was 275 - maybe there was a pricing error on some copies?

From the prices listed on the thread about the MOA sale, it looks like all items are at the same sale price at Podium, except for Narnia and Into the Blue, which are now 299 (from 350), and Walk The Line.

So I guess the best advice is: If you've been to any of the other recent sales, it's not worth the effort to go to Podium; but if you haven't, then good deals await you.

just spoke with sir jimmy of astro thru phone and he said that if you had a big blast of a sale in moa.he will throw an explosion of a sale this weekend at podium!lower prices than moa,so better be there early.unfortunately for me ill be there after office pa :(
Sorry guys but was also a little bit disappointed, I thought it was gonna be a big explosion of a sale, Got there friday. Sale is almost same as makati and MOA sale recently. Anyway got a few titles
Ten commandments 650
Last 2 batman SE     350 each
Toy story 1 and 2      299 each
Death becomes her   forgot price
Barbara streisand movies for my wife   Forgot the prices

By the way question on the Superbit fifth element. Price still at 650. Was wondering if the ultimate edition they have at 895 is also superbit? It actually has a lot of special features . Thanks

I picked these up this afternoon. For those of you who were there, I was the guy in a black shirt with a red insigna at the back wearing glasses.

The Adventures of Robin Hood (2-disc)
Batman (2-disc)
Batman Returns (2-disc)
NOTE: I did not buy the Batman Anthology box set because I hate the Schumacher Batman movies.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2-disc)
The Wizard of Oz (2-disc)

All for PhP1750 (I used a card) - AMAZING!

The Podium sale was quite disappointing, higher prices and very limited titles, compared to MOA and SM Makati sale. I was there at 11am and went back at 3pm, and only got Narnia and Walk the Line. They gave 5% off on cash payment, yeah,..great! since most of the people are out of cash that time especially after Milenyo passed by.

One example is the War of the Worlds 2disc I got from MOA for 375, in Podium its 450 or 475.  Does Astro only have one owner or franchise din ito?

Question lang po....meron ba talagang DTS na R3? All the while akala ko R1 lang. Kasi yung Walk the Line may DTS logo.

I'm curious: What more were you guys expecting?  ???
The sale itself is okay... first timers will be delighted...savings galore.

But the problem is that Astro Podium billed it as the' GrandEST sale ever', and that it will top the MOA sale.  During the MOA sale, Warner lowered the prices of it's 2-discs classics, Disney sold for 199, and many titles got discounted for the first time notably the Ten Commandments 50th Anniversary and Chronicles of Narnia.  Not to mention the free chance to win a LCD display.  So those discount at this sale is no longer big news to Sale enthusiast like many of us here.

When they say it will be the GrandEST sale, you are expecting something above what was offered at the MOA sale.  That's what cause the slight disappointment from many of us here.

That said, and having personally been to the Astro Podium sale, I could say it was still a blast.  And if it's your first sale, you will find plenty to like.

Item seen of note (AS of 1PM, Sept 30, 2006)

All prices approximate (not 100% sure)

Best bargain: Band of Brothers tin (1500), most new releases have amaray cases and priced at 1750. One copy on display.

Indiana Jones Trilogy 4-disc set 999 (from 1500)
Godfather collection 1500 (from 3200)
Jurassic Park trilogy 1500 (from 3000)
World War II Collection (Savings private Ryan etc) 1500 (from 2200)
Cat on the Hot Tin Roof 450 (from 499 yata)
Gladiator EE (3-disc) 999
Top Gun 475
Punch-Drunk Love (superbit according to the back label) 475
Sideways 299
Benchwarmers 475 (from 895)
Just like Heaven 475 (from 895)
War of the worlds 2005 2-disc 475 (from 895)
Coach Carter 333 (from 895)
Mona Lisa Smile 333
Shark Tale 333
Stuart Little 3 333
Ten Commandments 50th Anniversary 650 (from 1100)
Naked Fish Screensaver 333
Shogun mini-series 1500 yata (from 2800)
American president 333 (from 895)
Schlindler's list 999 (from 1500)
Fun with Dick and Jane 2005 333
Ultraviolet special ed  475 (from 895)
Ultraviolet theatrical ed 333
Jarhead 2-disc 475 (from 895)
Sex and the City Season 1, 5 475 (from 995 yata)
Sex and the City (longer seasons like season two) 1100 (not sure)
Sex and the City (Season Six) 1500
Ben Hur multiple disc 1100
Gone with the wind 1100
Wizard of Oz 2-disc, Yankee Doodle Dandy 2-disc, Casablanca 2-disc, Robin Hood: Prince of thieves 2-disc, Dr. Zhivago 2-disc 350@
Disney's Three Musketeers (animation) 350  (R1) 1 copy left
Almost Famous (Unrated) 475 yata (from 999)
Audrey Hepburn classics like Sabrina, Paris when it Sizzles, Funny Face, Roman Holiday 333 (from 375)

Also saw these, prices unknown but probably 333:
Scent of a woman, Terminator II yata, Nostradamus, Best Friend Wedding, Liar Liar, Christmas with the Kranks, 40 days and 40 nights, Road to El Dorado, Kung Fu Hustle, Romeo and Juliet (Olivia Hussey), Glitter

I didn't see King Kong 2-disc na kanina.. and no Batman anthology too...

Most Warners that are 275 during non-sale days are 225.

C Interactive 250 (from 299) most titles, but no one looking at their display.

Disney animation: Brothers Bear 1, Chicken Little, Bambi II, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 (they are all permanent price reductions na yata)...

As of 1pm kanina, don't know if they have been sold na... newer titles like Benchwarmers and Just Like Heaven parang limited copies lang...

Andaming Chronicles of Narnia, Sound of Music, and Walk The line, parang nag-order ng bago ang Viva.  I don't think stocks of those will run out during this sale...together with pink boxed Memoirs of Geisha (475)...

Good sale.  For me, it was worth the visit (then again, I didn't go to the MOA sale), especially for those new to the DVD collecting hobby.  Astro Podium still have the widest range of titles for any offline store.  But with PinoyDVD.biz, the selection (at least for Warner) is even wider...

Plenty of R3 titles with DTS. In fact some R3 versions have "exclusive" DTS tracks on them not found in R1 versions

Best bargain: Band of Brothers tin (1500), most new releases have amaray cases and priced at 1750. One copy on display.

I saw 2 copies of this as of Sept 30 (Sat.) 11am and I got one for myself, so the last copy could be this one.

Ultraviolet special ed  475 (from 895)
Ultraviolet theatrical ed 333

I saw the theatrical ed at 475, I am not if this was changed to 333 at 1pm.

Some of them were at 199, 250 and 333.

I didn't see King Kong 2-disc na kanina.. and no Batman anthology too...

There were several copies of KingKong 2 disc about 5 I think and priced at 475. Also, I saw about 8 copies of Batman anthology boxsets priced at 1299 from 2500. I got one of each. This was 11am saturday.

Additionally, I got the last copy of Matrix Ultimate Edition priced at 3000. I'm not sure if this is bargain but I am satisfied with the price.

Most Warners that are 275 during non-sale days are 225.

C Interactive 250 (from 299) most titles, but no one looking at their display.

Hahahaha.. this is true. I did not notice them at first but saw C-Interactive labels at the back, I lose interest.

Disney animation: Brothers Bear 1, Chicken Little, Bambi II, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 (they are all permanent price reductions na yata)...

These were at 299. I think some of these titles were far cheaper in the previous Makati/Glorietta sale than this weekend. The reason is I got my Toy Story 1 and 2 at Glorietta for 199 each and I saw them here at 299. Oh well!

Andaming Chronicles of Narnia, Sound of Music, and Walk The line, parang nag-order ng bago ang Viva.  I don't think stocks of those will run out during this sale...together with pink boxed Memoirs of Geisha (475)...

Narnia, Sound of Music and Walk the line including the Uncut version of Transporter 2 were priced at 299 which I think are also best bargains for this weekend sale. Geisha is priced at 475 for the 2-disc set.

I was looking for the following but could not find it:  >:(

The Last Samurai
Transporter 1
Kill Bill 1 and 2

Also, there were same titled DVDs that were priced differently. For one, I saw Black Hawk Down priced at 250 and another at 333.

Overall, this was a good sale for me as well. Happy Hunting and have a great weekend. Finally got electricity. Time to watch DVDs for whatever time this weekend's left.. ;D ;D
