Captain Phillips

Another superb, creative helming from Paul Greengrass, the director who gave us United 93, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum and Green Zone, four of my favorite movies from the last decade. My only gripe is the abundance of grain which is evident in some of the night time scenes.

The Graduate

One of the best comedies I have watched in years. I wasn't even born yet when this was first shown in theaters. It tells the story of Benjamin Braddock, a fresh college graduate with no well-defined ambition in life who fell into the hands of a preying sexy seductress Mrs. Robinson. This is further complicated when Ben falls in love with Mrs. Robinson's daughter Elaine. The whole cast were well chosen for their roles and they delivered!

I looked it up and found out it was Dustin Hoffman's first major role.The Graduate is included in AFI's 100 years...100 movies (a list of the best American movies) and is also listed in a popular book, "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die". Highly recommended to those who are tired of the present day mediocre comedies.

The Blu-Ray release is a little dated when it comes to PQ and AQ so I do hope it gets remastered soon.

Riddick

Another worthy addition to the popular franchise, though the predatory creatures (mud demons) plot is somewhat similar to Pitch Black's bioraptors. PQ and AQ are both topnotch. Can't wait for the next installment (Riddick vs. Vakko!)
