FYI:

Ayala Center Makati will again have its midnight madness this coming weekend, November 17-19. The last time they went on sale, it was really big with lots of titles at bargain prices. Here's hoping they would do the same again.

Good thing I haven't splurged on the Ultimate Superman Collection yet and just settled for the Superman Returns. There might be bigger bargains this weekend... (Hmmm, I have a feeling High School Musical R1 will go down to P299...)

V for Vendetta is Warner...so at most an extra Php50 is all that will probably be discounted...or wait another 3-6 months when Warner finally lower it price for good...

As for me, pass ako sa sale na ito.  Too many impulse buy during the last sales that I regretted so I am skipping it lest I get more DVD that are not in my buying list...

I'll be going there after office hours, and will keep you updated.
I have to work first e, otherwise walang pambili ng DVD. Hehe.

For the meantime, you can call these numbers and inquire on the titles you want:
Astro Glorietta 892-6733
O Music Video  829-2039.

Sorry, I don't have the numbers of Astroplus SM, Tower Records Glorietta and Music One.

I just came from Astro SM makati at Astro Glorietta. The Warner Titles ranges from the current 275-350 . The big sale were the Box Sets of some TV Series (OC, OTH, Friends, etc). Some of the Magna releases at 375 are down to 333.

Also, sa Astro-Glorietta, me offer sila na DVD titles that regularly go for 299, now 3 for 600.

Here's a sample of the titles on sale:

Magnavision: From P895 to P333
Those titles bought by allanmandy
Plus those written by Mr. Hankey at the Robinson's thread
Others not yet mentioned include:
Legend of Zorro (finally got one)
Coach Carter
Longest Yard

Other Magna titles higher than P333
War of the Worlds 2-disc P450 (no stock as of last night)
Memoirs of a Geisha P450
Schindler's list P999 (from P1500)

Warner:
Lots of boxsets at P999 to P1800
P275 titles down to P225 (got Iron Giant Special Editon for a friend)

Viva:
nothing much since they are all priced P299 anyway whether there is a sale or not
lots of re-stock of The Incredibles and Mulan SE at P299
Plus they just released Cars (P550), Ice Age 2 (P750) and X3 (750)... Hmm, they probably anticipated people do impulse-buying during during sales that's why they waited before releasing this one.

If so, then they didn't do their homework, because many will get those titles even without sale... and they (or the retailer) lose an extra 5% because of the sale...

But glad to see those titles being finally released.  Thanks for the DVD sightings during this sale.  Now I know I didn't miss anything I would have liked...

Actually in my opinion, it's the right way to go.  People do buy newly released dvds during sale period...kahit na less 5% lang.  At less 5% off new releases, people already consider it a bargain.  These same people who represent the majority, rarely buy dvds at full price.

Of course us dvd addicts who represent only a minority in the whole scheme of things buy anything at full price as long as we love the movie.

I have been to dozens of sales where the casual dvd buyer purchases by the truckloads because these are the only times he considers getting dvds.

As for the true collector, marami na ang 5-10 dvds during a sale kasi yung iba di na nakapaghintay ng sale to purchase a title he likes.

just came from there bought
1. unfortunate events 333
2. Extreme measures 225
3. the mummy returns 333
It was a pretty lame sale bought it all at astrovision. Astroplus SM also lame to me..To me,  Astroplus SM have the most sungit and unfriendly, unhelpful people I encounter. Seems like the ladies there dont like to work. They will not say hi or anything unless you approach them and ask for something. Sorry but im not use to this, Ive been there zillion times and thats what I notice. Maybe its the way I look hehe... I regret I ordered the superman ultimate edition there, Im not destroying any store but this is just my experience. But actually just to think of it I notice this in most of the Astro stores, I dont know maybe its just me as a customer I feel great, happy walking into a store and people say hi or welcome you to shop there or what have you. A perfect example is SM stores. The people there are so friendly, maybe too friendly sometimes..
Anyway, The weird thing I observed is those 299 went back to 550.. I asked Astroplus if it is buy 2 at 550 but its not. I did not even  bother asking at Astrovision regarding the 550 prices. There are  a few of the 299 prices that increased to 550. Viva ata mga ito, red tags eh.. Oh well...

By the way saw in the news (this is way off topic), it is illegal and you can report whoever is doing this: Having cash price and card price. You can report it to DTI, I think this is mainly in the appliance stores, not naman Astros. It is also illegal for those charging you additional 6% on card purchases. Card or charge should all be the same price.

OT: While it's really a violation of the terms of agreement between the credit card company and the vendor.  Sometimes, the markup is small, so the extra 'cash' discount, if they will have to eventually follow the rule to the letter, then you would get the higher price in the future, whether you pay cash or not.  If you are paying by credit, then it doesn't matter, but others who get pay cash will have to pay the extra which is not kept by the retailer but rather paid to the credit card companies... So while this is a personal opinion, I rather get that ability to decide whether to get that extra discount or not than having to pay the higher price all the time...

Back to topic, parang Magnavision sale are spread out over other Astro too,m even those not in Makati or Galleria.  I was able to check one in Manila, and they were also offering those items mentioned above at similar discounted prices, but limited to whatever was there before the sale... no replenishments...

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves had been discounted by Warner to PhP 350 sometime ago.   Maski hindi sale, same price din...  You can check PinoyDVD.biz for other titles that had been discounted by Warner.  But somehow, pag-sale...iba ang hatak...so even Php 10 lang or sometimes, as it was in this case - same price, napapabili ng wala sa oras. ;D

Was there friday afternoon.

Was able to get Cars (P550). NOt included in the sale ofcourse.

Saw a copy of Mulan R3 going for P299.  Tagal ko nang hindi nakikita to.

Anyways, meron pa ring sale today.  You guys might want to check it out specially yung 3 for P600 titles.  Lalabas P200 na lang per title!  :o

Happy shopping.

Im looking for D' Incredibles, 2-disc. Please let me know kung saan meron. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Chronicles of Narnia 2-disc edition that was released here has always been that way. No inserts, pictures, and includes misspelled words on the back cover... and that went P900 on it's initial release.
