And we read here that AV Driverr overprices their merchandise.  :(

I'm not fond of Dynaudio subs.  Overpriced.  Add REL to the brands you mentioned.  And PSB for budget subs.

Don't let this be your famous last words!  :)

Hi Grail! musta na? I bought the 8.2s (front & center) at Tech Central, Makati Cinema Square for P10,500. I also bought 2 pairs of Lovan stands for P2,200ea. Tapos free membership na sa DVD rental nila. Pero I would stay away from their rental kasi nga masungit yung  #^!*@#@*! babae dun!  ;D

Yung issue ng OSD is a not a big thing naman...black and white lang ang screen...that's it; all OSD functions work flawlesly. In fact, when I use the OSD, i just place it in the PIP window.

Well to my ears maganda tunog...am not really the expert to judge what is audiophile grade sound or not. Satisfied naman ako pero need to buy a subwoofer pa para oks na oks!  :)

6ohms ang impedance ng mga wharfs.

Is the AVR2000 the only HK receiver that costs under 20K? If so, what's the current lowest price you found, and where? I think Architectural Audio sells them for 19K++. If you know any lower cos H/K receivers, let me know :)

I was planning to get the Yamaha RX-V420 for like 13-14K, but then I have read about the H/K being much more neutral (uncolored) than the Japanese AVR's. Is it worth getting an H/K receiver over the Yamaha RX-V420? the H/K AVR2000 i thinkhas high-current 40W/channel in HT, while the Yamaha has 65W/channel. How does the high-current, but only 40W H/K compare in volume to the 65++W Yamaha RX-V series?

I still have on stock an AVR320RDS if you are interested. I suppose this is an upgraded AVR310. The only problem is my shop is located in Cavite. You can call (046)4713651 or SMS me at (0917)5023760.

Recently, I set-up an AVR5000 + Mission Cinema 72 package + Pioneer DV533. I tell you it was pretty good.

A good feature of AVR5000 is its HDCD decoder. This means you can enjoy your Audio too even by using your DVD player (although to one audiophile it was a crime to use the DVD player for strictly audio playback - but what the heck - it was good on 2 channel stereo playing HDCD discs).

Meron bang store na nagbebenta ng american model dito? AVR210, AVR310, etc. I'm looking for one...

http://www.homecinemachoice.com/testbench/frame.html?http://www.homecinemachoice.com/testbench/Amplifiers/HarmanKardon/HarmanKardonAVR4000.shtml

it beat out most other brands in the test.

heard also that Stereoplay of Germany awarded HK aVR4000 as its multireceiver of the year the same award it gave to HK AVR7000.

Mc,

Beyond is not a store or a dealer, they are the distributor of JBL, Infinity and Harman/Kardon products here.

Yes, warranty available from my local source. After sales service for this brand is pretty good at least from the limited models I have sold so far.

Reposting for Madrigal

To all present Harman Kardon Owners preferably the AVR-2000,3000,4000
5.1 channel recievers.

This units are rated at 40w x 5 to 50w x 5 high current in the higher models.
Does it really play loud and powerful like a 75watt 30*yamaha, 1602 denon or 500 onkyo?

Please tell me how harman kardon can say 40Watts and sound like a 100Watts

Heard a HK avr4000 and was impressed with it.
I also liked the Yamaha 430  bec it is cheap with decent features. and a 75W rating (daw)

Madrigal,

Here's an analogy why high current is important (this has already been mentioned here before):

8 penlight batteries total to 12volts right?  A car battery is also rated 12 volts right?  Given the same voltage of 12, which between the two would you use to start your car? The penlight battery or the car battery? The latter of course.  The reason, because it has more current!!!

Same with amplifiers, the more current, the more power output it can provide.

It is also important to note that not all power ratings disclosed by the manufacturers are based on the same methodology.  For example, Harman/Kardon's power ratings are usually based on the entire frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz, while some Japanese brands power ratings are based only on the frequency range of 1Khz.  So basically, you end up comparing apples to oranges.

Another very important aspect to know is that power ratings that are normally disclosed are based only on a specific resistance, usually 8 ohms.  But in reality, speaker impedance flucutates invariably.  The lower the impedance, the more current it requires of the amplifier.  Therefore, the higher the current the amplifier can produce, the better.

This has already been discussed here in greater detail but it seems that the search engine is not functioning properly.  So perhaps, you can ask the moderators to direct you to the appropriate threads.

Good luck.

To Architectural Audio:

Thanks for that high current enlightenment....!!!!

Will Visit you in your store at New World Hotel.  If you can give me a fair price for a Harman, then I'll buy it there.
Upscale Audio gave me a 15% discount on the Avr 2000.  Cash purchase.

Thanks.

Japjag,

We have used the AVR2000 with speakers rated at 6ohms.   It certainly is capable of driving speakers at this rating, even speakers at 4ohms as long as the room is sized small to medium.

thanks for the reply! I'm just concerned that if you turn up the volume higher than reference levels using 6 ohm speakers baka masira yung amp.

Ariel,

Like any manufacturers, h/k will the ship the newer models when the inventory of the older models have almost diminished.  We suspect that this will happen in 3 months time.  We will keep you posted.
