i have read the Star Wars DVD thread and i was amazed by the fast delivery made by Amazon.com and without customs tax. At first, i thought some members "just got lucky". but it was a surprise of a lifetime when i received a notification from the Air Mail section of our local post office stating that I have a package due for claiming. The PO opted not to deliver the package because it weighs 5.41 pounds. but as a rule, all local mails/package should and would be delivered directly to the shipping address according to the PO officer.

Wow!!!

I checked the package and it was mailed by Royale Logistics Philippines Inc. in behalf of Amazon. And because it's considered a local mail, no customs fees would be imposed to the receiver.. Wow again!!!

I emailed  Amazon immediately and ask if this process is applicable to all packages. should this be case, we will all save a lot of our precious moneys from customs tax and high postage cost. still waiting for Amazon's reply but i hope some of you have inquired about this.

any builds?

Amazon's immediate reply...

-----------------------------------

Thank you for writing to Amazon.com to let us know that your package
arrived safely.  We hope you enjoy your order .

I apologize for any misunderstanding regarding this shipping method.
Deutsche Post is a worldwide mail carrier with regional shipping hubs
in many countries.  Packages shipped via Deutsche Post are sent to
Deutsche Post's nearest regional shipping hub and then delivered to
customers by their local postal authorities.  Packages sent via
Deutsche Post are not delivered to customers by Deutsche Post unless
Germany is the final destination of the package.

Also, note that the the decision of the delivery is on the sole
discrition of the local postal and custome authorities and not of the
Deutsche Post.  Therefore, it is not guaranteed that every time you
will get you packages delivered to your address directly and they may
sometimes ask you to pick your packages.

sssshhhh wag kayo masyado maingay about "not paying dues" in customs, they might discover it.  alam nyo naman ngayon, short ang pilipinas sa budget kaya congress and lawmakers are itching to put taxes on anything.  kahit  text messages and bottled water, gusto lagyan ng tax hahaha kaya ingat lang mga friends.

sir hubes..

got some dvds from amazon tapos pina-ship ko sa Pinas. tapos, i received a notification from the air mail section of the Post Office instead of the Parcel Division.

yun pala.. Royal Logistics was commissioned by Deutsche Post  to send out Amazon packages to their Philippine Addresses. In effect, lumabas na local mail sya kasi it was shipped from Pasay. Local mails are not covered by customs tax..

For $18.00 shipping, items worth more than $100.00, weighs 5.46 lbs, di ako na-tax.. :)

ah. okay. so parang local package lang yan, just like when we fedex dvds to buyers here in marketplace. but you had to pick them up in post office right?

So it's (Amazon using Royale Logistics/Deustche Post) not only for items/titles with lots of orders, like Star Wars. When I noticed it and posted it on the Star Wars thread, I assumed it was, since my last Amazon order (quite some time ago) was sent directly.

This is really good news. I hope the local guys don't wisen up--because if they examine the box carefully, they will see Amazon.com markings all over, unless Amazon decides to ship in nondescript boxes.  :)

hmmm... sir hemi I haven't checked that yet separate orders kasi yon eh.  But I think for small packages that can be easily hand carried pwede siguro... I'm ordering my Spiderman Gift Set and ROTK EE na sabay e so let's see what happens...

meron din akong darating na package tatlong series na season 1 lahat (yung sa amazon season 1 sale) kaya lang sineperate nya to two shipments but same delivery date and shipment cost... so kung bulk orders pagdasal nyo na lang na ihiwa-hiwalay ng amazon yung delivery hehehehe  ;D

wow.. what a coincidence. i picked up my ed wood - r2 order from cdwow and i was directed to the second floor admin division. no tax for single title/single disc.

as i was going out, i noticed a number of amazon boxes in the local air mail room waiting to be delivered.. sana isa sa inyo dun sir jhundv..

the PO may send you a notification card and request that you pick it up na lang (without worrying about customs tax) since LOTR gift sets are quite huge and heavy and the mailman is incapable of delivering the package straight to your home. :)
