Try this level entry speakers of two well known brand in the U.S.

Klipsch Quintet ( 4 surround and one center ) cost around P24K (Sub sold seperately). 100W, 90dB, and quoted by the Home Theater Buyer's Guide : "Truly Amazing....has the ability to be played extremely loud without any distorting the sound at all.

Or you could purchase Definitive Technology ProCinema Series ( complete with Sub ) P46K.

We have also NAD Solution series DVD and Receiver in one which sells P55K.

Avail the discount or the 0% interest installment plan.
If interested, please call Studio Systems at 522-5698

it is best to match your front speakers with the same brand. the last time i checked, the autosport store (3rd or 2nd level ) in megamall A carry the boston acoustic brand.

No... best thing is to STAY with the same Brand/ Speaker line. Dahil it ensures na all your speakers will be acoustically and sonically matched - a MUST for proper Home theater... The best thing for you to do is to just save some more money. and buy another pair of speakers/ center channel once you can afford them. otherwise, kung bibili ka lang ng cheap speakers, you're just going to end up throwing them away or will be unhappy with their performance.

Each speaker manufacturer uses different materials fror their drivers. And each material has their own different sonic property. Kaya they will not sound the same.

*Drivers are those round things that produces sound on speakers.

Umm... Importante lang to match is yung TWEETER and MIDRANGE DRIVER.
Dahil yung rears doesn't do anything below 80 hz or so..  they're mostly for ambiance purposes.

Unless yung midrange driver mo nga is 10"... just get the same set of speakers.

they better be!  nice choice of receiver!  ;D -been lusting after the same brands lately...logical to assume na products from the same parent company will sound good together!

-how about looking at the more upscale european jbl or di kaya infinity lineup din?

My own bias is toward speakers that are good for music, even for HT.

Aside from explosions and similar effects, HT depends quite a lot on the same virtues that are good for music -- midrange accuracy equals dialogue clarity, resolution means you can appreciate all of those sound events that happen simultaneously throughout most movies, and of course a musical speaker lets the soundtrack shine through.

bro jerix,
im not an expert...but to attain timbre/tone balance, usually the rears are of the same brand...bit smaller or the same size and wattage puidi rin...but not bigger than the front speakers...since it is solely for surround purposes...
this is were you get your echoes/reverbs, chorus effects or theatherlike effects as in concerts  8)
this adds depth to your soundsource...a 3d effect that is  8) or three dimensional sound...

I don't know their current status of stocks. What I do know that their last purchase of Definitive speakers as Distributor was year 1999.

The nearest I can recommend I is in Galleria. The name of the store is CALL Audio/Video. It is in 2nd level infront of YAMAHA store and Radio Shack.

jerix- maybe you could get 2 way surround speakers with 6 inch woofers as long as your receiver can handle them.  Considering that you have a large room satellites or small bookshelves might fall short of your wanting.

Only you can tell what's best for your system and your ears.

Search this forum.  There are tons of info that answers your question one way or another.

I'd just like to share 1 thought:  I've seen many people go for the absolute cheapest 5.1 speaker system they can lay their hands on.

Let's say absolute cheapest system is PhP10k vs. entry level good quality system from Mission or say ~PhP35k.  Question you should ask yourself is are you saving Php25k by buying the absolute cheapest system or are you wasting your PhP10k.

Let your ears decide!

^ if you want help.. give us an idea of what you're thinking of doing muna..

there're different avenues to goto..

there's Home Theater in a box.. and there's one where you have to buy speakers and components separately.

if i'm solely to answer your question - with no budget limits.. i'd go with B&W N 802s all around. same speakers that George Luca$ use for sound mixing and playback at his Ranch.  they're 8000 usd for EACH OF THEM.

Hi bro!

I think you're looking for entry level 5.1 speakers.

Try the combination : Wharfedale Diamond 8.1, Wharfedale WH2 Center / Surround and a Dynaquest DQ-12 active sub. Price estimate - P16k. Add another P2k for a pair of Lovan stands for your 8.1 and another P2k for the speaker wire and optical cable. Grand total - P20k.

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie in HT. I recently got a hk avr3550 and owned speakers:

m72i - front
m7c1i - center
m70i - rear

but no sub yet. Is that speaker sufficient enough to handle the load or should I get the m74i for the front and retain my center and rear speakers instead of getting a subwoofer?

Do you have any suggestions for a sub that ranges between 10-15K then that would match my hk? ???

hope that you could help me out here...

Welcome to Pinoydvd bro. The ultimate expensive hobby...nice one to hear that an HK receiver was paired with mission speakers....how do you find them in Audio and Movies? I Advice you better get a sub than buy m74 coz in your 10-15k Budget you could already get a sub on that than investing to a floorstanders that have good bass

Thanks for the welcome.

All I can say is that the sound is immersive..... Very very warm for music, for movies - its pretty good considering that I don't have a subwoofer yet.

I'm still learning on how to understand all the features of the HK (pretty hard manual). Mission speakers sound clean and slick. I tried it with my pearl harbor, gladiator, braveheart and dragonheart movie soundtracks and it blew me away...

For movies, it handle my LOTR Ext. Version and Gladiator movies quite well.... It's like your actually in it!!!!

It may lack a little punch probably because I still don't have as subwoofer. But mission paired with my HK are GREAT!!!!

It's simply AWESOME!!!!!

Greatness,

Thanks for the review..... for almost a year of being a member here its my first time to hear a review of HK and Mission Combo...i havent heard it either in actual set up coz most of the time HK is Paired with Infinity speakers.I find the HK  really warm in Music compared to my yamaha receiver...Yamaha performs well in movies but i would say average in music.Ryt now i dont have a sub too but i am using the m73i Floorstanders and they really give a good bass...i guess much more on m74 so its up to you if you want to invest on good floorstanders first then contend yourself with the bass it could offer then get subs later or get subs now and enjoy the bass you are missing.
