30 Rock
« on: Jan 31, 2007 at 08:07 PM »
Coming soon to Star World

Emmy Award winner Tina Fey (NBC's Saturday Night Live, Mean Girls) writes, executive-produces and stars as Liz Lemon in NBC's 30 Rock, a workplace comedy where the workplace exists behind-the-scenes of a live variety show. The show is told through the comedic voice of Fey and features Alec Baldwin (The Aviator, The Cooler ) as Jack Donaghy, the brash new network executive who has turned the show upside down with his meddling ways.

The single Lemon is living every comedy writer's dream - head writer on a demanding, live TV program in New York City. Her life is jolted when Donaghy interferes with her show, and bullies Lemon into convincing Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan, Saturday Night Live, The Longest Yard) -- a wild and unpredictable movie star -- to join the cast. Now Lemon must manage the unmanageable so that the show -- and her dream -- can go on.

Also rounding out the cast in the half hour comedy are: Jane Krakowski (Ally McBeal as Jenna Maroney), Scott Adsit (Kicking and Screaming as Pete Hornberger,) the variety show's producer, Jack McBrayer (Arrested Development as Kenneth the Page,) the over-eager NBC Page -- a highly sought-after entry level position with the network, and Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live in multiple roles).
~ NBC

It doesn't start out strong but it gradually becomes funnier. Last week's episode (11), The Head and the Hair was its best so far. The "number of jokes per page" in that episode reminded some critics of Arrested Development. Alec Baldwin, having won a Globe and a SAG so far, is the main reason to tune in every week.

I can't see the Arrested Development resemblance yet.

I didn't like the show in the beginning but it got better and better.

That guy in the photo, at the back of Tina Fey, he's hilarious.  ;D Silang dalawa ni Alec. And they recently had scenes together, laugh trip!

The resemblance is more about the numerous jokes in a scene. That page boy, Kenneth was in Arrested Development daw but I can't place him. Last week's episode was a rip-off of an Arrested Development episode. Paul Reubens was supposed to be the Martin Short character. Isabella Rossellini was also a riot! I always look forward to Jack and Kenneth's run-ins.

This show should get an award for the clever use of guest appearances unlike other programs. The lastest episode featured british actress Emily Mortimer  ;D

I have to watch the ep twice to get all the jokes. Most of the time I'm laughing when they insert a throwaway line, usually through the PA system in the studio.

I like the show, but not nearly as much as I was expecting to. I think I prefer the incredible cast and their amazing comic timing a lot more than I do the plot lines.

Really funny episode this week. Couldn't stop laughing. I think season 3 is the best so far.
