I guess it's more like traditional European or parang English club. Kulang na lang ang nagtatabako.  ;D

Dream Theater nga, kasi I get the "concierto" feel of the room. Something that stands out is the least I could say.

One thing we could learn from this is that not everything BAGO is what's cool but rather how you present what you have. More power to our OLD-SCHOOL type members.

SYT,

Sa home theater, I think there are basically 2 kinds of styles. Yung isa ay "theater" talaga, including theater seats and baka tiered seating pa.

The other type of theater is more like a living room. Pwede ka pa mag-karaoke. Actually, meron nga akong mixer and reverb processor na semi-pro. "My Way" lang kasi.  ;D

Quite logical. It may take a few years pero at least, clearly defined ang goal mo. No matter how much you upgrade your equipment, you are still constrained by the acoustics and size of your theater.

Secondly, much of the enjoyment of a home theater is the room itself. Iba talaga ang malaking room. Feel mo maluwag.

Finally, imbes na bumili ka ng swimming pool or BMW or Expedition, invest ka na lang sa theater. Habang buhay mo, enjoy mo sya, much more than pools or cars.

Cheers!

Makes sense, dpa depreciated ng malaki yung value over time compared sa Expedition. . . nakaka-inspire! I'm quite intrigued with the HD video processor & the 1080p Sony Pearl tandem very well recommended nung professional A/V installer na nakausap ko just like you said. . .S-dvd kaya daw gawin HD yung PQ . . . wow! Kaso, I can't find any A/V shop here that has similar set-up for a demo. Will trade bottles of red Novellino's sana just to see it in action . . . ahem   ;D
Congrats!

You can say the same thing about condos.

No shop carries the Sony Pearl dito. I got my Sony Ruby through AV Driver sa Shang mall and they are importing a Sony Pearl for a friend of mine. They source it through their HK affiliate so ang importante, may warranty at may support nila. They can give it to you at the MSRP. Based on the reviews, the Pearl is very similar to the Ruby and it seems like the VP-30 is also very similar to the VP-50 kaya kung makita mo theater ko, halos ganun na rin ang pq. Its very very hard to tell the difference between SD and HD. :)

You can only tell the difference kung lumapit ka na sobra sa screen. But even then, I think that the ordinary person will find it hard to tell the difference.

By the way, AV Driver is also the supplier of DVDO video processor. They supply Anthem products, which are video and audio/surround processors.

Someone insisted on seeing the karaoke system so here it is. This is the Mackie mixer. The main control that I have mastered is the volume control.  :) Maganda rin ang mikes ko. Shure... Sure, sintonado ka pa rin!  :)

Katabi ng Mackie is the Tributaries S-Video booster. Kasi, to get from the DVD player to the projector, 50 feet yun. Kaya kailangan ng booster. But of course now, I don't use this anymore cuz I use HDMI.

And here's the Lexicon audio processor. Para sa mga reverb, echo and other kinds of stuff para d mahalata na ang pangit ng boses mo.  :)

Sa ilalim nya is the super-vintage Tascam PROFESSIONAL CD writer. :)

Congrats Sir on your grand setup, what a big room you have :o With your ceiling height you wont be needing presence speakers anymore :) And you are correct  investing in top notch gears kasi hindi sya nawawalan ng silbi in the long run ;) (iwas upgrade every so often ;D) like yung setup ko 3yrs na and im still enjoying it :D Im a big fan of JBL speakers as well bec hard to beat yung dialogue clarity nya and they are so durable :) Also Sir Most setups abroad uses the video scaler thats why they're not to keen with the new HD players, kasi as you've said hard to notice yung difference esp in big screens and titles are so expensive din for them ;) they're just buying the consoles for the games and not to much for the movies ;D

Your comment on buying top-notch gear is right, because for the longest time, I haven't changed my speakers, power amps, interconnects, speaker cables, line conditioner ...

But with respect to source equipment, I haven't been as lucky:
1) I have a very good cassette deck which is useless
2) Same with S-VHS deck and laser disc player
3) I used to have a high-end Sony DVD player and a very cheap Chinese DVD player. I once ran the same material on both and switched between the 2 sources. Kakainis!  >:( Tapos after 2 years, nasira yung Sony DVD player. Wala na.  :(

Same thing with AVR's which I actually use as pre-pro's. I originally had a Yamaha DSP A-1. It was pretty good and it lasted mga 4 or 5 years siguro tapos namatay.  :( Then I got a Sony TA-E9000 ES which was very good but it lasted only a few years cuz I got the Denon AVR-2807, which has the newer flavors of DD and DTS, as well as the Audyssey technology. Technology kasi ...  ::)

Re the JBL, yes my center speaker is fantastic. The dialogue is very clear. At tama ka, ang tibay ng JBL.

With regard to video processors, d ako very sure. The DVDO VP-50 is not just a scaler, it's a video processor. It's quite exotic cuz there are maybe only 4 or 5 major manufacturers of video processors, and they are still pretty expensive right now. I don't think the mass market of consumers is very aware of video processors. Most of them use the deinterlacers and scalers found in DVD players and AVR's, but these are pretty inferior compared to the dedicated video processor.

Anyway, thanks for the post.

Cheers!  :)

Parang lasingero ka rin, ah ...  :)

D ako, ha ... Mga friends ko lang.   ;D ;D

just enjoying a good wine and some cheese/snacks while watching a good movie with friends...

meron din ako dating naipon na mga wines, kaso nauuubos talaga kapag me sessions....lalo na kapag long holidays.... :)

Your denon avr2807 is very good for its price (denon AL24 audio processing starts at this model)....that audyssey software really works wonder, adding this 2807 to your power amps will further enhance your movie experience.....A friend of mine have that as well and after watching and listening in his setup, muntik na akong makapag-upgrade ng AVR......hehehehe

ganda sigurong manood dyan sa theatre mo ng Die Hard 4 or Transformers......herherherher
