akala ko ba default setting yung review mo bro .. bakit "tweaking did not help?"
so 3 hours (of auditioning and tweaking) was long enough to see their optimal settings for an htpc?

All LCDs were in default settings when we auditioned it side by side.  Pinalitan namin settings nung Panasonic dahil nga blurred yung texts nya at images sa desktop.

Para mawala yung possibility na PC ko yung may problem, we played "Transformer" on both Toshiba 37C3500 and Panasonic 37LX75 LCDs (both in default settings) using a Bluray player.

Recommended talaga na dalhin nyo yung PC nyo kasi you might be surprised how the LCD performs with the configuration of your PC.

Do you own a Panasonic LCD?...  Good for you kung maganda kinalabasan nya sa HTPC mo. Congrats!  ;)

I was there last saturday with giospike.  we auditioned 4 lcds; sharp, panasonic, toshiba and hitachi all 37 inc models.  I agree with giospike review above and prefeered the toshiba.  Panasonic was in my priority list as recommended by the members here but i was dissappointed to see the black levels are too dark and the highlights were washed out and no details.  My preference goes to toshiba, hitachi, sharp and panasonic in particular order.  hope you can do the same audition when you have your shortlisted model so you will be satisfied with your purchase.

I'd like to thank Vic of S&S for their great customer service and patience during our 3 hours stay.

Giospike, will pm you later.

Kakadeliver lang nung 37C3500 ko kanina. Expected delivery time was about 4PM but it came 2 hours early! Free installation din.  Galing talaga ng Sights & Sounds! Always exceeding their customer's expectations!

Eto yung text nya macro shot:

Sobrang linaw! 1:1 pixel aspect ratio nya.

TipidPC:

Advised ng Sights and Sounds, play around with the settings muna daw at icheck for dead pixels. After a few weeks, saka daw ako magpareschedule for free onsite LCD calibration para maappreciate ko daw lalo difference after ng calibration.

Thanks again to Sights and Sounds and Sir Vic! =)

@giospike
thats really weird since bago ako nagplasma .. 2nd monitor ko yung panasonic 32lx77 .. and i never had to change any settings .. stock ika-nga ..

ngayon gamit ko lg 32" na plasma readable yung text pero sa taong di 20/20 vision mahihirapan talagang basahin ... ill try to post some pics of my lg32" plasma while browsing tpc ..

btw paano and san mo tinweak yung settings? sa windows ba or sa lcdtv?
if both then pano mo tinweak yung sa windows? sa lcdtv?
na-activate mo ba yung "text" option sa lcdtv? napalitan mo ba yung text and font options sa windows?

nagtatatak lang talaga ako bro kasi sakin walang naging problema sakin yun panasonic lx77 .. too bad i had to change my display from lcdtv to plasma kasi if i should mention 1 weakness sa lcdtv, that would be sdtv viewing .. sablay talaga lalo na at destiny cable ang gamit mo   :(

@giospike

That's what I thought. Ineexpect ko malinaw lahat pati sa text without changing any settings.
ahh .. there are 2 ways kasi to do this ..
1. thru windows font adjustment .. (this is a must when youre using a plasma display)
2. text options via the lcdtv (sa remote easy accessible)

Goal ko rin kasi is to get 1:1 pixel aspect ratio. I need to figure out how to get 1366x768 resolution on my LCD. 1360x768 lang kasi meron sa ATI. Try ko na lang yung Powerstrip, baka magwork dun.
maganda talaga ang PQ ng LG .. especially when using it to watch regular programs sa cable .. but if HD na yung source halos pareho na sila ng panasonic lx77 ..
pansin ko lang sa series 4 ng samsung matabang yun kulay, sa hitachi ganun din kungdi kulang, sobra naman sa kulay .. adjustable pero naisip ko, what if pangit yung media .. wala ng way to adjust the settings kasi adjusted na by default ..
you dont need to use powerstrip since 6 pixel lang ang difference .. sablay pa since forced yung resolution sa powerstrip .. but i think it helps din naman in a way ..

Yes. 1360x768. Available sya sa Windows display properties at ATI Control Center.  I'm using Powercolor HD 3850.

Wala yung option na  1360x768 na resolution when I was still using nVidia 8600 on my old 32" LCD. I could only set it to 1280x720.  Try Powerstrip (just Google it), you might be able to set it to 1360x768 or  1366x768. I tried this before and also adding custom resolution on nVidia control panel pero wala talaga.

Is your video card driver updated?
Kung may onboard video card motherboard mo, have you tried it?
Are you using a HDMI-HDMI (with DVI adapter) cable or a VGA cable on your 32C3500? Check mo lang kung may difference.
Kung available, try mo iconnect sa ibang PC with an ATI video card.

Hi Giospike,

@raptor
I haven't tried using this LCD for TV viewing and I don't intend to. Wala kasi ako cable sa bahay and I already have a 14" regular surplus colored TV for watching standard Philippine channels just to keep me updated :-) Binili ko talaga 'tong LCD na 'to para gawing monitor ko sa PC to play ripped Bluray/HD-DVD movies, gaming at browse rin pag minsan.

Generally, LCDs are not recommended for SDTV or regular cable TV viewing. You might want to check LG 32" Plasma. Daming good feedback at maganda daw for watching TVs and DVDs. Mababa lang resolution nya, 852x480.  Hindi daw night and day ang difference ng LCD at Plasma ng PQ for TV viewing pero malaki daw difference.

You may want to check this thread, http://tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=88421 which includes comparison and actual close-up photos of an LCD and Plasma display, or demo the actual unit at Sights and Sounds or Theaterworks.

You might want to check it personally at S&S or TW kung may difference sila sa PQ.

My PC is running on Windows XP.

Dati gamit ko yung Nokia phone ko to control my PC through a Bluetooth connection and Salling Clicker mobile/PC software. Now, I'm using a Logitech 610 2.4 GHz Wireless Laser mouse and Logitech MX5000 Bluetooth keyboard to control my HTPC. Yung Logitech 610 has 11 assignable buttons to any media player on your PC.

I agree with you ninjababes regarding the panasonic 32lx77.
We have this unit too and after reading the post of giospike regarding the text issue with his pc, I quickly tried out my pc and everything was crisp and definitely readable. I surfed the net, opened ms word and played games and everything was excellent.
We wanted to purchase and even ordered the toshiba by phone but after comparing it side by side with other lcd's in S&S, we noticed the great PQ and natural reproduction of colors(not overly vivid) of the Pana.
Its only drawback is cable viewing as compared to a crt but still definitely watchable.

Thanks kalash! Care to post some close up photos on how the texts look like on your Panasonic?

It's a good thing that you personally compared the LCDs at Sights and Sounds.  Ako rin eh, I was really decided on getting 32LX77 and willing to order by phone and pay through COD which S&S offers.  I was relying on the good feedback and reviews from fellow PinoyDVD Pana users.  Buti na lang sinipag akong pumunta ng S&S the following day at bitbitin yung PC ko.  Sobrang excited ako itest at take home yung Panasonic, that's why I was really disappointed nung nakita ko na sobrang blurred nung texts.

When I auditioned the LCDs at S&S, we used HDMI-DVI and HDMI-HDMI connections. The "blurred text" issue occurred with Panasonic 32LX77/37LX75 only.

After some Googling, I found out yesterday na may issue pala talaga with DVI/HDMI connections on some LCDs as experienced by the people on these threads:
http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t27107.html
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?p=1366987
http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/other-hardware-support/178723-solved-blurry-desktop-text.html

According to them, blurred yung text on their LCDTVs when they used DVI. The blurring disappeard and texts became clear when they used a VGA cable/adapter or connect it to the VGA input of the LCDTV.

I'm just not sure if this issue also applies with Panasonic 32LX77/37LX75 and if the staffs of S&S are aware of this.

So if you're interested on getting an LCD for your HTPC and you encounter this problem, use a VGA cable.

Probably, it is with the dvi connection since I only tried it with a vga cable. Does your vc have a HDMI connection or you converted the dvi to hdmi or dvi to vga? About the pics, maybe when I have time to disconnect the pc and connect it to the lcd tv since they are located at diff. areas.
It is still best to compare all the tv models and decide what fits to your taste and needs.

Whoah! additional 20K? Hindi ko sure eh. As long as the size meets your needs, sulit na siguro yun. Pero syempre the bigger the better lalo na kung for watching movies purpose mo. Yung iba kasi 50" LCD pang HTPC nila.

i think if you are going 37", the c3500 is tough to beat at its present price (42-45k range), but if you are going 42" i suggest you get the panasonic pv70 which is winding down as a model (while supplies last), its going for 54k right now. so its really up to you, so if its lcd go 37" if its a 42" you want, go for the plasma.  ;D goodluck.

Hi Giospike,

How's the performance/picture quality on cable tv viewing?

here are some screen shots of my 37"c3500 in action. just using a ordinary digital camera. mas maganda talaga pag actual.  ;)

300 c/o hbo 480i; destiny cable, cable viewing is acceptable. as long as your signal is good.

relenless enemies hddvd 720p, definitely loads better. watching movies will never be the same again.

yahoo.com via vga 1024x768 resolution, mas maganda yung kay sir giospike, native resolution yun sa kanya. will try to download the program he mentioned kung gagana sa dell laptop ko, local lang ang graphic card nitong jurassic na laptop ko.  ;D

LCD detected but no display when using an HDMI cable
« Reply #59 on: Jun 11, 2008 at 06:07 AM »
HELP!!!  :o

ISSUE: My HTPC detects the Toshiba Regza 37C3500 but doesn't display anything.

The Toshiba Regza 37C3500 has 2 HDMI ports and 1 VGA port.

I connected both Samsung 2232GW 22" LCD and Toshiba Regza 37C3500 on my Powercolor 3850 with 2 DVI ports video card (latest driver).
Dual Display Setup:
1. Samsung - using DVI cable (DVI-DVI)
2. Toshiba - using HDMI cable (HDMI -  HDMI w/ DVI adapter)

I set the Toshiba LCDTV menu to HDMI input then turned on my PC. I got display on my Samsung and it detected the Toshiba LCD. I set the ATI display settings to clone, extended, dual display, but I didn't get any display on the Toshiba screen.

Other troubleshooting steps performed:
1. Changed the resolution to 1360x768, 1280x720, 1024x768 and 800x600. Changed refresh rates.
2. Selected "Force TV detection" in ATI display settings.
3. Used a different DVI-HDMI adapter and an HDMI-DVI cable (No adapter needed).

The manual says that the Toshiba LCD should work with an HDMI-DVI connection, I don't know why mine isn't working.

Here's what it says on the Toshiba Regza 37C3500 manual:

I'm only getting display on my Toshiba when I'm using a VGA cable (w/ VGA-DVI adapter) on my HTPC.

Anyone here who encountered the same problem? Please advise. Thanks!
