Sky broadband is out of the question already. After months of servicing and promises and waiting for them to install, they eventually said they cant do it *&^#%$@. Unserviceable our area daw WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE SAID IN THE FIRST PLACE SO THAT THEY DIDNT HAVE TO WASTE MY FRIGGIN' TIME.

Now, since Sky has installed already our TV, im thinking of changing it to Cignal if its better. The reason - hated their crappy service in re: broadband installation plus it was a major reason why I got Sky TV, Free broadband installation worth 2k if you get both TV and broadband.

So just wanted to check if Cignal has ok reception. Channel wise, 3 to 4 channel difference at the 600 below price point.

Cignal is A-OK as a product
it just matter on the "Dealer" who installs and service in your area. that is where it matters.

Cignal and any other DTH thru satellite should be install and forget service, albeit any electornics defect on the STB/digibox they provide.

Sky is OK on areas as well which has the new cables/fiber installed. not all area though are covered like in your case egzbuen.

Thanks Pentium. When you say Cignal is A-Ok and Sky is Ok, I assume the first one is better? What are the clear advantages of Cignal over Sky?

Cignal uses satellite system. Sky uses cable wiring. Pareho lang naman quality especially HD

. Mas madami lang ata channels ang Sky I think. Pero mas mura ang package ng Cignal I guess.

Cignal is OK basta wag lang bumabagyo o umuulan ng malakas. Problema pag may bagyo o malakas na ulan nawawala ang signal. Yun sa sister ko ganyan problema, pag may bagyo at malakas na hangin at ulan, no signal ang Cignal. Yun Sky, since cable wiring mas stable sya sa bagyo at malakas na ulan.

Why is that when Sky introduces new channels and jacks up monthly fee all subscribers are affected?
for example, I signed up for a 499 then they added this and that and my monthly now is 780.
Consumers should be protected on the monthly subscription fee that they signed up.

Is that 780 a plan? Or 499 plan ka then added some channels? Did you get any notice of the price increase? If your monthly is 499 and added some channels and it become 780, to me its not sky's fault. Maybe you can ask them sa increase. I agree consumers should be protected but to a certain degree. It depends on the terms and conditions.

Imo, I think one of the reason Sky cable prices are higher than cignal is because they offer many channels compared to cignal. Expansion of sky is way better than Cignal. To me nga Cignal is on stagnant in terms of new channels. Sky just keep coming with their new channels. No offense of course sa Cignal subscribers.

Btw how many hd channels do Cignal have compared to Sky?

No I'm referring to a subscribed plan, regardless of what provider.
Sky increases monthly fee charges including old subscribers.
while with other provider like in case Cignal and our local cable operator, you remain in your monthly plan even if they add / remove/ replace channels. while their new subscribers have higher monthly fee (new) rate on the same channel line up that you also watch.

like I pay P590 plan before until now, while new subscribers now pay P740 of the same channels that we're subscribed.

we need consumers protection on this. it is highway robbery. If you availed of a particular plan, it should remain on that monthly fee up until I upgrade or add some features. But, basic plan should remain on what I subscribed from the start.

In my case, I transferred to another apartment and just brought my Destiny Digibox with me. I hooked it up to the existing coax cable and got the signal instantly. That's 1.6K savings for me (at least for now).

sana nilagay nalang nila sa ppv channel kung talagang may bayad. di tuloy namin alam kung kelangan magbayad o f.o.c. sa plan namin

Sa advertisement on its site, I think you have to pay the 1999, its from june 1 to july 31, 2014

afaik, its 549 + 250 + 250

Your main unit is included na sa 549. The two extra tvs you pay 250 each monthly

I was a skycable subscriber for standard definition channels (Silver for P830/month) 2 weeks ago with 2 digibox installed. 1 extra tv for P250 add'l per month for the digibox. I upgraded to P549/mo Dual-Def subscription with mixed of standard channels and 12 HD. They changed one of my standard digibox to HD digibox for a additional fee of P1,399.00. Only one digibox was upgraded since this is the only unit attached to my HD/1080P Television. I really appreciate their HD channels. The clarity was really good as if we are watching HD movies from DVDs or HD downloaded movies, "malinaw talaga that you could even see the skin pores on the person's face".

So my new monthly billing will be... P549 + P250 for the extension TV (standard def only).

Yes po actually kasi ung digibox ko asa room ko kasi usually pag gabi lang ako nakakapanood dun pag umaga dun kami sa sala sa baba na nonood ng tv...

^In our case, we have an SD digibox and I just use the RF out to connect the other TV.
It does the job if the goal is just to share the HD box without having to move devices around.
The next question would be how to change channels easily when viewing from the other TV.

IMO, the signal loss in the HDMI splitter/switcher is minimal and the possible signal degradation would happen in the HDMI cable if it's too long.
