Quite slim. I got a free umbrella though (for purchases of Php 1,500 and above; a "limited edition" watch for purchases of Php 2,000 and above).

Saw the following new titles, but decided not to get them because they're the local versions. Will wait for the imported variants to go on sale:

* If you're only looking for a Php 750 The Blue Planet boxset, then you're gonna waste your time if you go here. It's Php 999 in this sale.
* Jaws (2-Disc 30th Anniversary Edition, Digipak) is Php 299 in this sale.

A nice sale overall. Just a bit disappointed because of the noticeable absence of imported variants of many titles. It seems each Magna sale gets more and more saturated with budget or local variants. It's almost confusing for picky collectors like me if an imported version exists for their titles (especially for Universal Studios titles). But for those who are not to picky, this is a great sale to go to. It has lots of titles and stocks.

Lots of boxsets. But I did not go through all of them. What I can remember are 2 seasons of Monk, Sex and the City's at Php 750, some seasons of The Shield, BBC documentaries like Egypt at Php 300, Planet Earth at Php 750 and Bible Mysteries, Mr. Bean boxset at Php 600, The 3 Stooges boxset at Php 999 (maybe this isn't the sale price yet), Spider-Man trillogy set (didn't see the price).

No, I was referring to The Blue Planet. Planet Earth has a sticker that says Php 750. The Blue Planet still says Php 1500 so I asked them if it's the sale price, and they told me it was Php 999.

Have been waiting for the first four DVDs to go on sale, and finally, was able to get them at sale price.  Too bad I wasn't able to get a free umbrella (actually didn't know that they had such a promo) --- hindi umabot sa P1,500.  Tapos, I bought the first two DVD first, then later went back to buy the other three.  However, I was given 4 packs of M&M Dark Chocolate --- puwede na rin kasi 'yun ang favorite kong M&M variant.

YES this is the latest 2Disc Collector's Edition Sony Release (released last Aug 14/07 ).  Upon browsing, this exactly mirrors the latest R1 release.  However, the cover used is the old Columbia CE Release ( back in 1999 pa! ) so it's kinda misleading.

There are 4 dvd releases of Taxi Driver :  The R2 Single Disc CE Columbia Tristar, the R1/R3/R4 Columbia Tri Star CE, the   R1 Sony Release 2 Disc CE and the R2 Columbia Tri Star Japanese Superbit Release ( which I own )

Among the 4 releases, it's the R1 Sony 2 Disc and Japanese Superbit that excel in terms of PQ and SQ ( although the Superbit is the only one blessed with a dts track ).   See this review from dvdbeaver.com :

I tried comparing the two earlier and it seems like the Jap Superbit has a slight PQ edge in terms of brightness. But not something to bowl over.

However, the 2 disc is the winner hands down in the EXTRAS department.  More than 3 hours!  And this is the reason for my double dip .  I can't wait to watch the film again and indulge myself with the extras.
