this is very close to my dream system. hopefully I am done with the audio merry go round. I consider most of them end of the road products and I am very happy with their performance. The last thing I want to upgrade in my audio system is the installation of the tubed 32 bit dac from Nova Physics - it will be a user installed kit. I am also getting close to finishing my 401.
As for my HT, one thing I want to improve is the stand. My current stand is not big enough and doesn't have enough shelves to accomodate more equipment. The Accentus is an awesome speaker, but being rear ported and quite big, I cannot crank the volume really loud as it could rattle the wall behind it. This speaker is rated at 26 hz, but outputting more bass than the VR5 which is rated 20 hz. I've heard how good this speakers can be when driven by Lamm, I now got the Arcam AVR 300 on bi-amp mode (channel 6&7 assigned to bi-amp the front channels) but even at total of 200 watts per channel, I feel it is now lacking the inner detail. I cannot move the speaker too far away from the wall because it won't look good, and the "boss" will disapprove. Well, I guess we cannot have it all. It is playing good enough sound, although the glare from the tv can be distracting sometimes. We are movie buffs and we use this system quite a bit.
We now have 6 working tv's inside our house already and I don't think we need another one, but after watching the scene where Matthew Mc Conaughey was playing Wii on a supersized screen in Tropic Thunder -I lusted for a 120" PJ more and more, and the Wii of course. No, I don't need a projection system. no. As previously mentioned, I was considering a bigger lcd too - but I am concerned the glare (sound) from the reflection on the TV screen can screw up the sound of my main audio system.. Costco offered $700 discount on BenQ W5000 last Xmas, I almost pulled the trigger, but let the promo go away.
So, I am just playing it cool for now, hopefully the itch will go away.
