Hehe...

Goaltending daw... Phil Jackson says so.

Just one of the psychological tactics of the Zen master.

Magic deserved this win. 62 percent from the field and still lose? Malas naman ata sobra nun. Late game fallout by Kobe despite of his hot shooting in the first half. Anyway, bawi na lang sa Friday! :)

game one and two on cs/9 was ok.. but when i watched today.. local commentary was airing... not to bash on our local commentators.. pero pwedeng palitan si dr. j? kasi.. grabe e..

at the end of 3rd quarter with 30+ seconds to go...

"i dont think the magic are looking for the 2 on 1... (diba dapat 2 for 1?)"

dr j. : stein van gundy....

dr j.: that was a good effort by tyrone lue... (he was referring to Lee)

dr. j: stan man gundy...

dr j:.... amar odom..... (pinaghalo si amare at si odom?)

either he was stoned or may jetlag? tapos ang lethargic magsalita.. will give kuya cesar a run for his money..

sana naman.. maglagay sila ng mas commentators that knows the players and the rosters of the team!

don't forget...

dr. j:  Pau Gasul   :'(

Mas madalas magkamali si Joe Cantada because his eyes were bad, but he was very witty to make fun of and correct himself immediately afterwards.

I knew this, back in the late 80s.    Dami nya mistakes in player's names.

Haha! Who is Uds?

Wonder how they would pronounce Turkoglu, Ilgauskas, Vujacic,

But I'm sure they can pronounce "Kobe" better than any American broadcaster.

It was overshadowed by his gift of gab.  I think he was the one who popularized giving smart monickers to players like The Quick Brown Fox (Ricardo Brown), The Skywalker (Samboy), The Destroyer (Distrito) Bicol Express (Gonzalgo), etc etc.  Prior to him though, there was Emy Arcilla and Dick Ildefonso during the Crispa Toyota days...

It was a delight when Joe Cantada recited some rhythmic lines during the opening ceremonies of the PBA.

Was it Joe Cantada who "valiantly" (for the TV station) but annoyingly (for the viewers) extended the extremely short Tyson vs Sphinx bout into 2 hours of talks?

Yeah I think he was the one.

I recently bought a dvd of a 1990 PBA Game ( Anejo vs SMB ) where Joe Cantada was the commentator.  Some of his entertaining quips:

(promoting Juvelon E plus) "I am not trying to sell you Jones Bridge when I tell you that Juvelon E-Plus will keep you awake till the wee hours of the morning..."

(on an under the leg pass by Jawo) "I tell you now, that pass by the Big J will be etched in the memories of fans for eternity..."

(on the 10,000 pt of Freddie Hubalde) "He is just 85 pts away from joining that elite club.  But I don't think he'll reach that plateau tonight.."

"I'll give you a million bucks now if Franz Pumaren didn't feel that karate chop from the Destroyer .... if I had a million bucks"

Although he also pronounced Ogie Alcasid as "OL-JIE ALCASID" ;D ;D

Funny ;D

Saw the replay last night. Was actually looking forward to hearing it being commentated by Dr.J, just so that I could hear brother Waxx's observations.  Alas...American commentators ;D ;D

in the pba, whenever andy jao is part of the tv panel, he serves as the analyst and the other guy gives the play-by-play. i suppose that is also his job in the nba finals coverage. if he makes mistakes with the names of the players and some terminologies, so what? he gives better analysis than the so-called "dean", quinito henson, who relies to much on statistics. or the loud-mouthed, mister know-it-all "nagbubuhat ng sariling banko" chino trinidad.

what i can't understand is why we even need to send them to cover the games. the nba coverage is just fine.

As I expected. Lakers came back in the third. I hope that Magic will maintain their composure and make this a 2-2 series.

:'( I have a big respect on Andy Jao kaya sana naman pagsabihan sya ng kasama nya na Gasol at hindi Gasul. Ang sakit sa tenga. Paulit-ulit pa.  ;D

Sana next game ibalik nila sina Mark Jackson. Please...

should've been called an offensive foul on Bryant with the elbow on Nelson. LeBron was called the same thing during the Conference Finals against Pietrus.

No wonder Fisher was left open after Nelson went down.

Pangalawa - Bakit di kayo nag - foul man lang nung last few seconds ng 4th nung lamang kayo ng tatlo?  ???HA?  Kung nag foul kayo, panalo na kayo!  At di na tri powents ni Fisher for the tie and OT..

>:( HA?  At nalibre pa si GASUL for an all alone dunk( nahawa na ako kay Dr J ) kasi hindi nakaangat si Nelson?

Wow, i really feel sorry for the Magic fans.  Those were big time blunders down the stretch.  Superman Howard?  Big time missed free throws that could have iced the game for them. Oh well.  That's what you call inexperience.

Siguro kasi tinawag kang "Coach Gandhi" ni Andy Jao (who also invaded C/S Origin channel).  Langya ginawa kang bumbay ni Dr J ;D

As for Pau, despite the repeated corrections of Mico Halili, he will always be an LPG for Andy Jao.. ;D

Predictions? I'd still stick to 4-2.  Lakers to win at the Staples Center.

not fouling lakers in dying secs in regulation shows the inexperience of magic players sa finals..metal block siguro or maybe order ni SVG to play good D. pero i suspect more of a mental block,na over excite sila to win it with 3 point lead

Not fouling was SVG's call.

Quote
"That one will haunt me forever," Van Gundy said of his decision not to instruct the Magic to intentionally foul the Lakers when they inbounded with 11 seconds left, trailing by three, and got one of two super-clutch 3-pointers from Derek Fisher in a 99-91 overtime victory Thursday night that dropped the Magic into a 3-1 hole.

Van Gundy explained that he usually instructs his players to foul and prevent a game-tying three only when there are 6 or fewer seconds remaining in the game, and he felt his team was shooting so poorly from the free throw line (he was right about that!) that it would have been a mistake to put the Lakers on the line with a chance to pull within one.

Kobe was called for the same thing before but i think this was a good non call as it was accidental.
