A lot of fans want to see Cung Le fight against Anderson Silva.

Fedor Emelianenko Released by Strikeforce Following Third Loss in a Row (UPDATED)

Fedor Emelianenko‘s time under the Zuffa umbrella has come to an end.

The former Pride champion and Russian legend has been released from Strikeforce following his third loss in a row, the latest coming by way of TKO to Dan Henderson this last weekend in Chicago.

UFC president Dana White on Thursday confirmed his release to MMAWeekly.com.

“Yeah, he’s being cut,” White confirmed. “You guys thought he was the pound-for-pound best in the world, I said he was overrated for years.”

Emelianenko’s legendary undefeated run first came to a halt when he faced Fabricio Werdum last year, and after clipping the Brazilian early in the fight, he was submitted by triangle choke.

Bouncing back earlier this year, Emelianenko entered the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix where he met Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and was simply overmatched by power and size. The fight was stopped after the seond round as Emelianenko suffered huge swelling in and around his eye.

The final nail in the coffin came at Strikeforce this weekend when he lost to current light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson in a special heavyweight attraction. Fedor dropped Henderson with a good punch, but in the scramble to finish the fight, he found himself on the bad end of a Henderson uppercut.

Emelianenko went limp, falling flat to the mat and referee Herb Dean rushed in to stop the fight.

The loss resulted in three in a row for Emelianenko, who stated following the fight that he was undecided what the future held for him.

The future doesn’t hold Strikeforce for Emelianenko after being released.

According to White, he believes Emelianenko’s contract was up anyway, which paved the way for him not to come back to the promotion.

“Yeah, I think so as far as I know,” White said about Emelianenko’s contract.

White also stated he had no conversations at all with Emelianenko or his camp, and has stayed out of the situation since Zuffa purchased Strikeforce earlier this year.

^ Jones vs Rashad is gonna be huge. Rashad looks better than ever. No ring rust at all.

^ Sana magkaroon pa ng isa pang magandang laban si Fedor bago mag retire, isang magandang panalo bago mag retire.

Pwede sigurong Alistair Overeem vs Fedor.

I don't think that he's overrated at all. It's just that people often try to oversimplify his legacy, to them he's either GOAT or total crap. I still think he's the greatest heavyweight of all time and the best pound for pound during his prime in PRIDE FC. He fought and beat all the best heavyweights at the time in dominating fashion. And compared to the HW picture in the UFC na papalit-palit ng HW champion every 6 months or so, Fedor defended his championship hanggang sa ma-dissolve ang PRIDE.

Let's assume that Dana's criticism against Fedor is his post-PRIDE career. He did initially have trouble finding worthy opposition after PRIDE with matches against Lindland (undersized), and Chong man Hoi (huge but more of a K1 fighter), but his next few matches weren't exactly lightweights either. Arlovsky(trained with Freddie Roach) and Sylvia (has only lost to elite fighters) were still fighting at a high level at the time, and Brett Rogers was a #5 ranked heavyweight when he fought Fedor. And now that he has a 3 fight losing streak after being undefeated for about a decade, Dana White's is gloating and talking about how he's overrated and  such. Yeah, Dana White and co. has done plenty for the sport, but he acts like a disrespectful fratboy sometimes.

^ I'm sorry, but I don't believe in the ability of Ken Shamrock. I saw his fights in Pride FC, he's more of a quitter. Sa UFC 'di rin naman sya dominant. Mabuti pa 'yun brother nya na si Frank Shamrock, he has proven something in MMA, ganda ng mga laban ni Frank dati hanggang mag retire sya. Peace!
I saw UFC 133, "The Phenom" is back. Time for Tito Ortiz to retire.

now i can say im excited to see the Jones Evans fight, Evans is again on top of his game, the choke that led bader to submission was there again for tito but evans was able to escape that.

that was some mean knee in the rib area, bring it on jone jones.

wala naman yun si rashad. nung nag face off sila ni jon jones dati, kasing liit nya lang si shogun. jon jones will just beat his ass.

vitor? lagi naman ganun mga laban nya, including his fights sa affliction dati, same style. he is good, but not good enough to beat anderson silva.

Time for Tito Ortiz to retire.

yun na ba uso ngayon laging retire. lol. he just beat bader who is a top contender before losing to current champ jon jones, galing surgery pa si ortiz nun.

and now he got beat by rashad who is also a champ before buti sana kung tinalo sya ng di kilalang fighter. tito can still fight and still draw a lot of ppv cash for the ufc. unless he loses 3 straight fights then i would say its time for him to retire.

^ I like Tito Ortiz because of his antics, pero 'yun panalo nya ke Badder, that's it and that's all. Yes, i think it's time to retire.

yung panalo nya kay bader more of bader losing it rather than tito winning it, tito did the same thing to evans but it didnt work.

just checked wikipedia, tinalo na pala ni yushin okami si anderson silva dati, though matagal na yun and the result was a disqualification of silva due to illegal upkick.

i still predict a beatdown by silva on okami. hehe.

kelan ba mangyayari ang silva vs bisping??? he has a 21-3 record and yet never gets a title shot. gusto ko kasi sya magulpi ulit ala hendo beatdown.  ;D

After the Silva vs Sonnen fight, illegal substance (PED) was found in Sonnen's system.
