Gilbert Melendez dropped a decision in his UFC 188 bout with Eddie Alvarez, but his real issues are only just beginning as it was announced today Melendez failed hisJune 13 post-fight drug test.

Melendez (22-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) failed his test for what the UFC called “exogenous origin of testosterone metabolites,” meaning testosterone metabolites that were present from an outside source.

“Regrettably, I tested positive in my post fight urine sample for UFC 188,” Melendez said in a statement posted on the UFC website. “I did not inject anything, but I am responsible and accept the consequences for the results. I will make sure I am better educated about the products I use and their implications. Going forward I will ensure no products I use will contain banned substances. I am sincerely apologetic to everyone who supports me, including my fans, sponsors and the UFC. I value your trust and respect and will do everything in my power to keep it.”

Melendez was set to face Al Iaquinta (12-3-1 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 71, which takes place July 15 at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.

The lightweight has been removed from that bout and the promotion is searching for a replacement opponent for Iaquinta. In addition, Melendez has been suspended for one year from the date of the bout for violation of the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy.

Wow! I'm beginning to believe the hype. Conor McGregor is the new Featherweight Interim Champ. If McGregor defeats Aldo in the octagon he gains my full respect. Medyo nandaya pa nga si Mendes, sinusundot 'yung sugat ni Conor. Nice win McGregor, dami sigurong lasing na Irish sa Vegas ngayon.

Pero sa tingin ko the fight of the night award belongs to Lawler and MacDonald.

Maganda din panalo ni Jeremy Stephens kay Dennis Bermudez kaso overweight ng 4 lbs si Stephens sa laban kaya that's considered cheating na din eh.

I dont like the guy but he backs it up. Damn that was a good fight. But i still liked the Lawler MacDonald Fight. That was a slugfest. That last left might have shattered the nose of Rory. But i liked the gesture after nung laban bumisita pa si Robbie im just not sure if that was at the hospital or sa likod lang yun.

I had the chance to watch the replay of UFC Fight Night 71 kanina, although main event na lang naabutan ko, ang ganda ng laban ni Frank Mir at Todd Duffee, brawl talaga from start to finish.

Feeling ko ginaya nanaman ni Mir 'yung style ni Pacman sa laban nya kanina, this time may resemblance sa Pacquiao-Morales 3, 'yung pasugod si Morales sa ropes habang si Pacman naman umaatras, then biglang banat ng kaliwa sa panga ni Morales, parang ganun 'yung ginaya ni Mir kanina. Dati noong kalaban ni Mir si Cheick Kongo ang ginayang punch ni Mir 'yung KO punch ni Pacman kay Hatton. Pero kung doon sa laban ni Mir kay Kongo, knockdown lang then submission, this time Duffee suffered the same fate as Hatton, lights out din.
