I am SOOOOOOOOO stoked about this.

American Movie Classics, the cable channel that's been known lately more for its TV shows (Mad Men, Breaking Bad) than its movies, has acquired the rights to the popular comic book The Walking Dead. The comic is about a group of survivors making their way through an apocalyptic world overrun by zombies; not a unique concept, but it's supposed to be darn good. Although CBS had a zombie TV pilot called Babylon Fields that sadly was never picked up in 2007, The Walking Dead will have the muscle of Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) behind it as writer, producer AND director, so odds seem pretty good that we'll see it hit the small screen at some point.

I think TV is a better medium for this awesome comicbook series. A movie just won't do it justice. I hope Darabont won't veer away too much from the elements that make The Walking Dead such a great read.
