Most Recently Viewed DVD? (Part 11)

Continuing the topic from Part 10, since that thread's 5 years old already, and I'm bored. ;)

It might be nice if you'd post a review or a few words about the DVD you just viewed. It would make the topic a bit more fun to read through. Requested, but not required.  ;D

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

-Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Grey and Charlie Sheen were so young not to mention the luscious Mia Sara which was my dream girl then.  I find this movie the best that could capture high school life.  I realized it was a mistake that I let my daughter watch this.  She might get some ideas...  :-X

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1

First time to watch this, would you believe.  Never liked this before.  It's campy and teeny bopper still but not bad at all.  Has enough humor and action to keep me glued till the 12th episode of the first season.  I now know why it received such cult status.  I love the final episode!  Video is full frame and sound is 2.0 only and it looked pretty good in our conventional TV ( di na ako sa widescreen nanood ).

Angel First Season, episode 1

If Buffy is for teenagers, then Angel is for a more adult audience.  Angel is now in LA and has teamed up with The Messenger and a more likeable Cordelia Chase.  Angel has some cool weapons and he seemed like a caped crusader super hero.  Episode 1 rocks!  It has lots of action, kung fu moves, car chase, cool gadgets, pretty gals.  I guess I'll be hooked more by this series than I was with Buffy.  Video is still full frame and sound is still 2.0 but it's more crisp and bright ( versus Buffy ).  Can't wait to watch the rest.

mattia, is your Buffy complete?

It will be a lot more fun and coherent for you if you watch Buffy Season 4 alongside Angel Season 1. Some episodes overlap, either full with characters crossing over to the opposite show for a joint storyline, or sometimes just little things like Buffy receiving a phone call where the caller doesn't speak so she assumes it's a prank call, then later on Angel, there will be a scene where Angel dials a phone number, then can't speak when someone picks up.

Nope.  I only have Season 1.  When I get hold of other seasons, I will definitely watch.  Thanks for the tip!  Although I'm not a Buffy fan, I think I can sit through the seasons naman.

Resident Evil - the only zombie movie where I saw the most effective anti-zombie defense system work - the laser grid corridor! Too bad it was used on humans though and not on the infected office workers...

Finding Nemo 2-Disc Collector's Edition

Still enjoyable even on 2nd viewing! (I've seen this the year it was released  ;D).  It kept me awake till past 11 PM and even wanted to watch the bonus features of the dvd and the commentaries (though I have sneaked through few deleted scenes) but I have to hit the sack for there'll be work early in the morning tomorrow.  It amazes me that aside from delicately and intricately drawn animations and graphics, it is fused with very good storyline (well atleast for peeps like me who are young  :o uh huh okay... young at heart! :D) and facts and even the small details regarding underwater creatures.  Will definitely check the remaining features of the DVD once I have enough time (watching the commentary alone is consuming another 1 hour and 40+ mins).  Really love this PIXAR film  8)

Doubt

Powerhouse cast Philip Seymour Hoffman & Meryl Streep turn in solid acting performances, as expected.  The last confrontation scene between the two gave me goose bumps.  WOW.  Definitely engaging despite being a dialogue driven film.  Aside from Streep and Hoffman, I was totally impressed with Amy Adams.  She can act!  This former Hooters girl has really come a long way.  If you want good acting, you can't go wrong with this one.

Nirvana Unplugged 5.1 version. - nice audio. Naging All time favorite rock band ko ang Nirvana when they did this concert. Sayang lead vocal Kurt Cobain died already.Actually this concert was set up like a funeral - a special request by KUrt according to producer. Yun pala he's going to die na.

Mostly covers ang kinanta nila that's why super OK. Tindi ng mga lyrics. malalalim ang kahulugan that's why I like this band.
