First wave dvd:
Source: Pioneer DV410v
Resolution: 1080p (Limited RGB)
Samsung 40B550:
Very bright pictures, with very aggressive colors, but the 550 presents a more "refined" look over the lower end Samsung models. The intro to the Starwars movie displayed visible pockets of uneven areas, where some overly bright spots were found. Older movies like "The Godfather" appeared with unnatural colors and black areas appear to be somewhat grey.
LG 42LH70:
Good colors although still on the stronger side, and still plagued with uneven spots of grey during dark scenes, especially when you're watching movies in a pitch black environment. Newer movies gave off satisfactory results with no hints of motion blur or smearing pictures.
Panasonic 42S10:
Colors on par with LG and better than Samsung, however, the S10 was particularly the "grainiest" of the bunch. There were mild signs of motion blur during fast scenes from the Transformers movie, but not too distracting and chances are...you won't even see it!
Toshiba 42RV600:
Best colors rendition of the LCD bunch in the area of DVD play, the downsides was the uneven spot especially on the upper right hand corner of the T.V (This could be unit specific) and the mild motion blur that was seen during fast action scenes (Though it was not as noticeable as it's 32 inch brother)
Panasonic 42C10: (Set at 720p only)
Plasma is still the undoubted king of DVD viewing! Very natural colors, deep blacks and near perfect screen uniformity. No motion blur, and with a very theatrical color rendition, makes plasma the platform of choice... if DVD is still the primary usage of your T.V. Do note: The C10 is very reflective and should be set in a room with a controlled lighting environment.
