Is this normal on a Plasma TV?
« on: Nov 01, 2009 at 12:51 AM »
Hi plasma owners....

I would just liek to ask if these is a normal case on your plasma TV's.  I am currently using a panasonic pv8.  I usually play games with it on an xbox 360.  My problem is parang meron mga pixels on the tv na mga kumikislap.  Para ba syang mga bituin.  Is this normal po ba onn a plasma? Never experienced this on my LCD TV.  Or it is just the settings?  My setting is on standard only.  Pls. help so that if it is not normal, i can claim warranty for it.  TIA and more power to Pinoydvd...

it's not normal, those are dead pixels.....try to call your dealer and ask their warranty policy on dead pixels.

Sparklies on a high definition picture are usually a cable issue.

Try another HDMI cable.

@ Waxx

Thanks for the quick reply...

Here is the connection

My Panasonic Plasma is connected to my XBOX 360 thru Component Cable.  Resolution is on 720p.  I tried switching to an HDMI then ganun pa rin.  May sparkles pa rin...

I have my X-box360 connected via Components on my Panny, and so far no sparkles of any sort. You can try this:

1)Locate the spot where you saw them sparkles
2)Switch off the 360 and close your lights (keep the plasma on), look at the same spot again. If you can see brightly lit dots in the same area, then you have "stuck" pixels.

By the way, my 360 is a first generation model, so it does not have those HDMI ports.

Thanks for the help guys....

i Actuallychange my connection to HDMI and ganun pa din.  When i play forza meron pa ngang isang malaking pixel na parang rainbow colors.  Almost 1/4th ng screen.  Minsan kapag naglalaro ako ng forza alam nyo ba yung resolution ko parang tv signal ang itsura.  Hindi sya hi-def.  You know what i mean hi-def pa rin sya pero parang gumagaspang.

I agree 100%. Could be a sign of the dreaded 3rl...

I've had my box since launch and so far I''ve been lucky ;)

Yes. A dead pixel is usually just one color and does not change colors (kumikislap) like you described.

Sir t3nity --- I'm not a gamer, but I tried googling for you.

So i guess its my 360 nearly dying.

Possibly.

That's what they're saying on this discussion:  http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=615728.  One post says:

"Your xbox is crashing... Artifacts are typical of a gpu failure. I know several people who have had the same issue. Eventually your 360 is going to die."
