How to use esata HDD on PCs running on XP OS

For those whose HTPCs run on XP OS and in need of transferring bulky DVD, ISO and MKV files as large as 100 to 500Gigs, despair no more, you can easily use esata HDD docks on your HTPCs' runing on XP sans the encumbrance of rebooting by following these simple steps:
1) Initially highlight My Computer and right click...go to manage
2) Go to Device Manager
3) Click Disk Drives
4) Click Scan for Hardware Changes, you're esata connection will now be visible and operable.(upper block)

For precautionary measures as to not upset your registry, to safely remove it, the same steps 1-3...but afterward, right click on the esata drive(I'm sure you'll know either WDC or ST for Seagate), then click uninstall..otherwise, on reboot, the PC might hang looking for the esata drive.

Transfer files larger than 100Gigs in minutes and enjoy. ;) ;D ;D ;D

BTW....the CDR-King esata HDD Dock that did not worked on my Vista OS was easily recognized by my PCs with XP OS and I'm so glad I did not return it simply for the reason that it's the cheapest HDD dock available at 550 pesos, here's the picture, just in case you want to get one yourself. ;) ;D

Is there a tool that can speed up transfer of files from PC to ext drives?
I feel that my speed is not up to my expectation when ever I transfer files.
Is there a trick to maximize speed when transfering files?

TIA

What's your transfer rate and what connection are you using?

I'm using esata and transfer rate averages 18Mbps.
Right now I'm transferring 100Gb of HD movies from a usb hard disk to another HD connected via esata and transfer rate is at 28Mbps both connected to my laptop. This is the fastest I ever saw.
But if I tried copying simultaneous file it can go down to 7mbps or even lower at times

To get the most out of the esata, both the source and the destination hard drive must be connected via esata also.

The bottle neck of your setup is the source hard drive connected via usb. The fastest "real world" READ speed I've experienced via usb 2.0 connection is around 20-30Mbps which is just about right with what you are getting.

Naturally, if you do simultaneous transfers, your 28Mbps rate will be divided with the number of files you are transferring.
