Topic: Upgrade to 32 LCD or 37? Please Help

Am upgrading from 22 Samsung Series 4 to 32 or 37, preferrably LG (Scarlet) or Panasonic Viera (37). This is for bedroom tv only, mainly used for movies and TV, and rare chance for gaming (or none at all).

Can you help me guys if it's worth investing on 37 now? My budget is up to around 33K. Sights N Sounds giving Panasonic 37" for only 35K (HD ready only - thanks to Vic).

Will appreciate any feedback from 32 LCD users.

if you'll be playing mostly dvds ok na ang 720p panel. but if you have bluray and/or nmt playing 1080p movies better get a full HD panel.

if you can avail of 37" full hd, the better. If not, 32" Full HD would be a good choice for you

Any would do since you will hardly see the difference of the 1080p and a 720p even with a bluray player unless you have two 50 inch screens side by side with those signals and standing 6 feet away.

Get the 37 inch Me, I am happy with my 32 inch viera for the living room

You share same comments from LCD merchandisers I've spoken. They say 50" up works better for HD only (movies I mean). I was able to test 32" scarlet in my bedroom last night and can see I have enough viewing space for 37".
Panasonic 37X10S is selling at 35k. Is this a reliable brand? Samsung LA 37B530 is at 42K though. Still 7k difference is a lot way above my 33k budget.

Would you guys sacrifice 7k for full HD 37 Samsung series 5 or just settle at 37x10? Any Panny 37X10 owners to comment please?

Get the 37", When you watch widescreen movies. The black bars on the top & bottom will make your movie even smaller.

Full HD 32" LCD seems to have best value for the money these days.  Full HD 1080p can be looked at as future proofing your investment to some extent, if you still don't have BD players.   BD players can already be had for under $100 in the US, so it could filter down to local markets by next year.

You can get a 32" LG full hd tv now for under 25k, I think.

I have the Panny 37X10S.
For DVD movies coupled with a great upscaler this is a superb display. I have only praises for it.
For TV it will depend largely on your cable provider as some channels can really suck.
The Just screen mode is terrific at extending the standard 4:3 to the screen 16:9 aspect.

I know a lot about HDTVs since I used to work for a major TV station, nung nandoon pa ako, nagtratraining na kami for HDTV programming, facts, techs, etc... nung lumipat ako sa call center (trust me, nde ganun kalaki sweldo sa TV unless na artista ka), tech account naman ako ng isang major satellite TV then cable TV, talagang nde mo mapapansin ang difference sa 32 - 42 inches unless na pareho ang mata mo kay superman, o matang kwago. Sa 50 inchers mo lang mapapansin granted na ganun ka nga kalapit pero onti lang ang difference.

Me, I am happy with my Panasonic 32c10x2 + DVD upscaling via component cables @1080i 24f, ala HDMI sa akin

Got my new samsung Full HD LA37530 yesterday and am so satisfied. Although I went up my budget, it surely was a good investment for a Blue Ray player in the future. Full HD still is beyond noticeable for 37 compared to a 50-inch unit, but I got mine at reasonably sacrifice sale. I found an old leaflet from AV Surfer and same unit costs around 58.4k last September. I struck at almost 17k less.

Fitting it on my room, 32 would look have looked smaller.

Getting 37 Ready HD would nevertheless still be a popular and wise decision.

Got it around 45K less pa. I'm under Destiny cable and signal isn't that good, plus Samsung programming features are weird. I will have a samsung tech to calibrate picture settings this weekend.

Am planning to buy Blue ray player sa US though am thinking how much shipping costs would be. Ang mahal pa din ng blue ray satin sobra. Kahit siguro refurbished unit at 129 USD pwede na sakin.

meron ako nakita bluray player around 15k php dito, nde ko lang matandaan kung saan or kung 15k php nga.

with regards dun sa purchase mo, ayaw mo nun? 37 inches na full HD, you got what you wished for.

@akopomichael  Di ako mahilig sa games hehe. It wouldn't really look good sa gadgets ko coz it will not serve its purpose, except for the blue ray thing. But I'll check around and baka pwede na nga kesa sa wala. I already have Xtreamer. Sarap manood ng mkv moviesfrom Xtreamer sa 37 LCD.

Share tayo settings. Bukas punta samsung tech sa house to calibrate programming. WIll let you know if I get tips from them to enhance viewing.
