hi guys! i bought mine 2 weeks ago and have encountered 2 problems so far:
1. display flickers and then turns blank after you turn on the set (power light turns white) and no longer responds to remote control inputs (i.e. can't change inputs or access menu). this happens when i turn it off at the AV2 input after playing on the ps2. this has happened 3 or 4 times already but not sure exactly what causes it. the only way to get out of this is to immediately press input and change input to TV just before it flickers. but when you turn it off again from AV2, the problem reoccurs. the only fix i've found so far is to switch to demo mode and then back to home use.
thanks in advance!
My firmware is also version 3.15.
Yes, I have encountered the same issue in your item#1. But in my case, my input is set to HDMI1. As long as there is a signal source on HDMI1, there should be no problem in using the TV remote.
What I noticed is when the source to HDMI1 is either not powered on or was powered off, the TV screen would flicker to try to sense for a signal on the input (in my case HDMI1). If no signal is present, it seemed that the TV would turn its screen off ( I think that the backlight would turn off). Since the circular power switch did not turn RED yet, it meant that the TV is not powered off yet. So pressing anything on the TV remote would not produce any response on the screen except for the power off button (on the remote). Even pressing the "Input" on the TV remote would not show anything also. Havent tried immediately pressing left or right arrow after pressing Input. I believe pressing the "Input" repeatedly doesnt cycle through the various Video Input sources.
At times I would try to catch switching to the USB Menu (w/ a USB flash drive attached) before the screen would turn off. Sometimes successful, sometimes not. So I would turn off the TV (using the TV remote) and turn it on again.
I don't know if this is related to any power saving measures applied to this TV set. Let me know if you do get any concrete answer from LG Phils. For the meantime, the only solution is to not power off the source first.
I believe the demo mode might not be expecting any signal from any of its input sources. It might be the reason why the screen does not turn off.
The above are just my analysis of the experiences encountered. I hope that LG would update their firmware to resolve this annoying issue.
