does anyone has a chance to compare it with Panasonic TX-L32S10 or X10? before i was contemplating on pana but now seems like this baby is more bang for the buck though pricier than X10.

Just picked up an LG 32LH70YR last night.  I'm so happy with it... well worth the 29K.  I even got a free bucket of Chickenjoy c/o BPI Credit Card's promo.  :)

Re: Best Place to Buy LG 32LH70YR in Alabang area?
Hi everyone,

I'm set to buy an LG 32LH70YR but the best deal I've got so far, within Alabang area, is actually pretty much the standard offer of 30K including the wall-mount bracket.

This thing is selling like crazy and most appliance centers in Festival Mall and Alabang Town Center ran out of stock already!  Some stores don't include the wall bracket for the 30K cash price, but some do... but basically the best they could offer is 30K cash.

Any tips where I can get better bargain?

Thanks.

Alabang malls like all others do not have "great" prices.  Whats worse are the salesman who tell you that LCD's do not show that brilliant PQ at your home with standard sky cable.  And to top it off they will rarely give you a straight answer when asked about Plasma PQ Vs. LCD when viewing standard sky cable.

Regarding price did you ask victor at sights n sounds if they have your unit in stock and at what price including the (free) wall mount.  They deliver and install for free as well ( Buying from malls are rarely the best deals around).

calling owners of LG 32LH70yr,

tanong ko lang mga sirs, yung start button sa harapan na may ilaw,
annoying ba ito lalo na kung movie viewing at off yung room lights?
This model is one of my choices, may reservation lang ako tungkol
sa ilaw ng start button.

Query lang mga sirs.

Thanks to everyone who gave tips either here or by PM.

I finally bought one last night.  Gadgets in Style (Festival Mall) sold it to me for only 29K including the wall-mount bracket.  Nagamit ko yung BPI card ko, so apart from the good price, I also got a free bucket of Chickenjoy c/o BPI promo, LOL.

34K lang sa kanila kapag 12 months installment, while it's 39K sa mga ibang stores sa mall dito.

Also, out of all the appliance stores in Alabang, sila lang ang may stock.  I asked Ansons, Abenson/Avant, Automatic Centre... lahat sila sa January pa magkakaroon daw.

Overall, not bad for a mall purchase, no?

Seriously contemplating on getting me one this next week. Any comment on the unit's PQ when connected to a PS3? How does it compare with other LCD TV that fall in the same specs?

For those planning on getting the 32" model, this picture is misleading as the unit is no where that thin. :) I dont know if the 42" version is what is on the picture.

It seems that this baby has been quite a hot seller, with most stores having no stocks left.  Even the display units were chomped up by eager customers.

I have tried playing DIVX files as usual PQ is not that good and has a sound only at the LCDTV. :)
You can pipe the sound out to your amplifier via the RCA out of the TV.  That's what I do. :)

hi guys! i bought mine 2 weeks ago and have encountered 2 problems so far:

1. display flickers and then turns blank after you turn on the set (power light turns white) and no longer responds to remote control inputs (i.e. can't change inputs or access menu). this happens when i turn it off at the AV2 input after playing on the ps2. this has happened 3 or 4 times already but not sure exactly what causes it. the only way to get out of this is to immediately press input and change input to TV just before it flickers. but when you turn it off again from AV2, the problem reoccurs. the only fix i've found so far is to switch to demo mode and then back to home use.

2. h and v sharpness settings don't work in expert1/2. i only noticed this today and would appreciate if anyone can confirm: set h and v sharpness to 95 so that the picture is obviously sharpened, then change to a different mode and then back to expert. in my case, the settings are correctly saved as 95, but the picture look soft. the only way for the sharpness to take effect is to adjust it again (either up or down).

again, i'd appreciate if anyone can confirm any of these problems as i am considering taking this back (sm appliance center north edsa). but if it turns out to be a common problem with some of you then i would probably just stop using the av2 connection and the expert1/2 mode. hassle eh:] btw, my firmware is 3.15.

thanks in advance!

My firmware is also version 3.15.

Yes, I have encountered the same issue in your item#1. But in my case, my input is set to HDMI1. As long as there is a signal source on HDMI1, there should be no problem in using the TV remote.

What I noticed is when the source to HDMI1 is either not powered on or was powered off, the TV screen would flicker to try to sense for a signal on the input (in my case HDMI1). If no signal is present, it seemed that the TV would turn its screen off ( I think that the backlight would turn off). Since the circular power switch did not turn RED yet, it meant that the TV is not powered off yet. So pressing anything on the TV remote would not produce any response on the screen except for the power off button (on the remote). Even pressing the "Input" on the TV remote would not show anything also. Havent tried immediately pressing left or right arrow after pressing Input. I believe pressing the "Input" repeatedly doesnt cycle through the various Video Input sources.

At times I would try to catch switching to the USB Menu (w/ a USB flash drive attached) before the screen would turn off. Sometimes successful, sometimes not. So I would turn off the TV (using the TV remote) and turn it on again.

I don't know if this is related to any power saving measures applied to this TV set. Let me know if you do get any concrete answer from LG Phils. For the meantime, the only solution is to not power off the source first.

I believe the demo mode might not be expecting any signal from any of its input sources. It might be the reason why the screen does not turn off.

The above are just my analysis of the experiences encountered. I hope that LG would update their firmware to resolve this annoying issue.

Hi guys!

I have a similar issue with my scarlet, problem is exactly as you have described and observed. I experienced this a week after bought the unit. Called Remal sales and I was referred to an LG technician. The technician explained to me that I might have pressed the "eco" button (green buton on the remote) which cycles it to the different modes. I explained that I was not using it and gave me instructions on what to do.

I thought that it may be the problem since when I got the display back it was in maximum savings mode. I switched it "off" but if there is no signal from the source video ( either HDMI or component) the screen flickers off. However, normally there should be a moving display that says that there's no input but this is not the case.  I mentioned this to the technician and since the screen is blank it appears that it's not even responding to the remote. You have to switch it on and off again.

Since its within 7 days, Remal promptly changed the unit. So far with the new unit I have not encountered it or frankly, I did not try to simulate it again ( powering the TV on with the input in component or HDMI), I just leave it in TV tuner mode when powering off.

I hope other scarlet users try to simulate this do determine if its an issue with individual units or a common problem. Makes me think "WHY" LG suddenly drop the prices down drastically ( from its original selling price).

As you guys mentioned, problem might be with the firmware. Appreciate if you can advise how to check the firmware version. Maybe we need to chase LG to upgrade our firmware if this is the case.

In the meantime, lets enjoy our scarlet this coming holidays. Cheers!!!

Got this too, i think this is more of a HDCP handshake issue.

After a a month or so however and a PS3 resetting (holding the powerbutton for 10 seconds and all HDMI settings reset), the problem does not persist anymore.

Not sure but it's a DRM security ek ek, High Definition Copyright etc., ata, i'm just pulling this out of the air though. Basta hassle yun. :P

I meant resetting the PS3. I think the PS3 carried the old video settings the older LCDTV.

My unit was manufactured in April 2009 (aarggghhh.. i forgot to check!  I would've requested them to change it with a newer unit, which arrived the day I bought mine).  It has FW 3.0.9.  I haven't experienced this, but I've only tried turning off the TV when in RGB-PC, HDMI3, TV, and AV1.

thanks Ppoooh, Lawin and vx2! i'm a bit relieved that i'm not alone with this problem as i had a hard time finding info on it from the internet. from the sound of it, it looks like it may be common after all.

i had experimented last night on how to reproduce the problem as it doesn't always happen, but couldn't really identify a particular sequence that causes it. i have not experienced this with the hdmi input (to which i have the ht554 connected), only with the av2 input connected to a ps2.

so that still leaves me with the 2nd problem with the expert1/2 sharpness settings... i found someone else with a similar problem but on a different lg model:

http://www.hifivision.com/television/7040-facing-problem-my-lg-lh90-attn-prospective-buyers.html

the user pretty much describes exactly what i am encountering, except mine is with the sharpness setting. if anyone of you can just confirm this (following the steps i described), i would be very thankful. i just want to know whether this is a firmware issue or if there is really something wrong with my unit and i should have it checked/replaced. i bought mine for 30k and as they say, money doesn't grow on trees:]

to vx2, like lawin i'm curious about the HDCP handshake you mentioned.

Since I am not going to connect this TV to cable, I will leave my input setting to HDMI1. As I am always using the WDTV HD Media Player on this TV.

I suppose in Lawin's case, you are always connected to cable. Therefore the screen doesn't shutdown anymore when your input defaulted to cable. What would happen if you accidentally changed to other inputs like HDMI and your HDMI connected device powers off. You would then be back to a blank screen and unresponsive remote.

Did a change of the TV unit actually resolved the issue that you have experienced? Will have to try this scenario on other units displayed at the appliance store where I bought this unit from.

Thanks for any advise.

1. from reading your experiences, i have a hunch the problem occurs when you turn off the source and then turn off the tv immediately without it displaying "no input" first. i'll try to confirm this later.

What I've experienced is that if I pull the plug without turning off the TV first, it will turn on immediately after re-plugging it in.

There's a sticker at the back that says so.  In fact, all the LG LCD TV's I've seen displayed in SM Pamp. and Robinsons Starmills have such stickers.
