Hi everyone. Proud and happy owner of this awesome TV as well.
Aside from the "pillaring" (backlight spots on the left and right ends of the TV) which only appear on black/very dark screens on high backlight settings, almost everything about my set is a-okay.
I do have 2 minor problems with the set, though. I would like to know if anybody has the same problems and luckily, if anyone here has a solution to these problems. Sorry for the walls of text btw lol.
1.) Faint, very dark green/transparent horizontal bar (about two-thirds of the screen) located at the middle of the screen. Hardly noticeable actually, but gets pretty annoying in the long run. It appears on ANY appliance I hook up to the TV via A/V and component ONLY, my HDMI inputs are completely fine. I've noticed it whilst playing on my Xbox 360. When watching cinematics that scroll up or down, the bar becomes noticeable. Sometimes the dark "bar" moves up or down when something moves on the screen, like if I open the Menu for the TV or if I launch my profile screen on Xbox Live.
At first I thought it might be a ground loop problem, so I used a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter (coincidentally, my multi-switch extension has a removable prong as well). Didn't do any good. Cable interference? Tried moving everything away from my TV set and my Xbox 360. Still didn't do any good.
A temporary solution I've found after going through all display settings is to set the backlight all the way up. The "bar" mysteriously shrinks into oblivion and display looks perfect again. Prob is, it goes back regularly when I turn off the TV or the Xbox 360.
Why I'm going ballistic over this is because my TV isn't supposed to be like this. If I turn the backlight all the way up for the "bar" to disappear, I risk the lifespan of the bulbs and there's also the problem of high electric bills. Anybody know a good solution?
2.) The minor of the 2 problems. This is REALLY weird. I have a Samsung Home Theater (model HTZ220) hooked up to my TV via HDMI (for the DVD output) and whenever I turn my TV on or off, the disc tray ejects and stops halfway or abruptly, like it's getting some kind of signal from the TV controller. This does not happen all the time, maybe 2 out of 5 times I press on the power button on the controller for the TV. It's a bit annoying since I have to stand up, reach for the player and close the damn thing by pushing the tray back in.
Sorry if both problems have been posted already. If they are, already, please point me to the right direction. Anybody here who knows a solution, I need your help. T_T
I think this is my first proper post btw, since my previous posts are concerned primarily and only on selling liquor lol.
