Hello,
I have a klipsch speaker 1997 model ksb-3.1. I like the quality and the sound is clear. I'm also planning to buy the newer model RB-81. I'm using this Technics amplifier model SA-GX650. Thanks!

Make sure to get the Reference II version of the RB-81, it has better manners than the original Reference line.

Well they are cheap but my advice would be to move up to the Reference line of Klipsch.

It's better, the sound is less forward and the "shimmer" of the high notes are more noticeable.

imho it's indeed a good buy, good price and with good aesthetics.

indeed comparable. i had the chance of owning a tsi 100 and currently have a b2 but only used for surrounds. klipsch are more into the bright side and it's also easier to drive because of the high sensitivity 92dB.

the b3 model is even better. it will resolve the lack of bass.

 ;)

Ba't claimed sensitivity ng RB81 is 96db, pero as measured ng HTLabs ay 91db lang?

I'm not an expert on the topic but the measurement is only for limited frequencies 500 Hz to 2 kHz. Maybe someone like Stagea might know the explanation?

Measurement techniques vary significantly from maker to maker (and can sometimes even be different between model lines of the same maker), making comparisons of numbers between different brands unfruitful at times (to say the least).

In terms of sensitivity, some quote anechoic numbers, while others quote in-room values (the actual room specs and speaker positioning is often left unquoted). Some measure at 1 watt, whilst others stick to 2.83V. Some makers measure the entire audible range, others use a narrower band (like HTLabs), still others just measure at a certain frequency (like 1kHz or 2kHz). Some quote average sensitivity, others use weighted numbers, and there are even makers who just quote peak sensitivity values (whether in a constricted range, or not). Some measure from 1m (3.3 ft), others measure at 3ft, still others use 4ft and there are very few that use 2m.

From the Klipsch web site of RB-81 II:

SENSITIVITY: 97dB @ 2.83V / 1m

I forgot to mention that some brands also measure from on-axis, while others quote multiple averaged (whether straight or weighted) measurements covering both off and on-axis output.

From the Klipsch web site of RB-81 II:

SENSITIVITY: 97dB @ 2.83V / 1m

In-room din ata quoted measurements ng Klipsch, hence the numbers are numerically higher than those brands that quote anechoic measurements. I suppose they also position the speakers fairly close to the walls during measurement, and only measure from a point that is on-axis with the horn (most horns have significantly more output on-axis).

Mga Sirs,

Anyone compared the RF-62 II with RB-81 II?

I haven't had the chance to compare those but I would imagine the RF-62 II would have the better bass performance since it goes down to 35Hz while the RB-81 II goes down to 44Hz.

I have RF15 (older version of RF52). I'm planning to upgrade to RF62-II. Meron na po bang owner dito sa PDVD or anybody po na nakapag-audition? Would this perform well with my older center RC35? How about pag stereo mode or pure audio listening? I would love to hear your views on this. Thanks in advance  :)

I'm using Klipsch Synergy KSB 2.1 bookshelves. Created from 1997 til 1999.  :D
You can consider the vintage and rare.

Amazed how refined and musical these speakers are.  Very small and compact. Perfect for my midnight jazz sessions. Very bright and detailed.

At 93db sensitivity, driving these wonder speakers were very easy.  Perfect for my current AVR, a pioneer 1020k.

Glad to know there are fellow Klipsch users here at PDVD. :D

IMHO, my RB81 is generally very good for instrumental tracks. Just did some mionr tweakings lately and am falling in love again with klipsch.

Klipsch Reference RB-61 II Speaker System review at HomeTheater.com

http://www.hometheater.com/content/klipsch-reference-rb-61-ii-speaker-system

Quote
Looking over my Klipsch reviews from the past couple of decades, I recall a lot of products I respected and liked but none that I fell in love with. The Reference II is the first Klipsch product to tip over that subjective line. Not that the character of the original Reference has changed that much: The difference is subtle. But it’s real enough to turn this product into one that I could live with for a long time.

Let me repeat my warning that to get the best out of these highly revealing speakers, you’ll need low-distortion amplification that tends to the warm side. Like Klipsches in general, these speakers don’t need much power, but they do need clean power. You also have to be the kind of now old-fashioned listener who’s willing to live in the sweet spot.

Klipsch Reference RB-61 II Speaker System review at HomeTheater.com

http://www.hometheater.com/content/klipsch-reference-rb-61-ii-speaker-system

Hi Conan I see in your sig that you drive your Klipsch with Onkyo 608 and I am guessing that it is match made in heaven..I am about to purchase my friend's onkyo 608 and just wanna hear your 2 cents about it. I own a RF52 driven by pio 820, it is pretty decent although some records sounds a bit on a high side.
