Just got a love note from Mede8er Forum announcing that the V3 FW is officially out.  The greatest show on earth Allegedly just got even better.

Still no HD audio support as expected but V3 looks to be more eye candy; built in YAMJ among other things.

Im kinda pissed off at myself for throwing away the cover arts and NFO of all files I got in HDDs.  I have the habit of taking them all out including the original folder and leaving only the main file with a simplified filename.  Convenient sana for YAMJ.  Anyways, cover arts and nfos can be worked out.

Please try V3 then and give us some feedback  - sa end of July ko pa mahahawakan ang Mede8er ko.   :(

Do you guys know how to check for the HDD capacity of the external HDD connected via Mede8er?

Nelson, I dunno.  But just attach the external HDD to a regular computer and just check in from there.  Should be a simple procedure.

That's a good option. Though i was lookin for an easier way because whenever i transfer files from internal to external, checking the capacity from the mede8er should be easier than unplugging the external and attaching it to a computer (kung bukas computer, kung patay kasi, need to boot up pa)...

Wala pa ring sumusubok ng FW V3?

I would take this on a positive note; a testament to the high level of satisfaction of Mede8er owners on their device running on FW V2.x   ;)

Or konti pa rin tayong Mede8er owners in PDVD?   ;D

I'm hoping that the Mede8er would have this capability with FW Ver. 3

These are samplings of the A200 in action.

Ang Mede8er owners kasi, enjoy WATCHING the movies in this ERROR-FREE and SIMPLE-TO-USE system.  Di katulad ng iba, daming bugs and known error issues kaya ang haba ng thread nila, and they need to update their FW frequently.

Granted na mas mura ang system nila for maybe 1K or less, pero with all the headaches.

Mede8er RULES for newbies like me!

Mga Tsip, may Ver. 3.0.4 na po ayon sa love note ng Mede8er today.  Wala pa rin bang feedback?

Dont worry, ubod ng dali mag-FW update (or mag-revert to old and reliable FW 2.0.x in case) - basta tanggalin nyo yung HDD para safe.

Ta-ta!

PS. Quoted from Mede8er mail

NOTE: Once you update to V3.0.4 you cannot easily go back to older versions below V2.0.2 if you are using an internal Hard Drive that was formatted with the Mede8er due to a core code (SDK) upgrade. The update process will not damage your Hard Drive contents but the Hard Drive will then be shown as HDD1 instead of C. If you are not using an internal Hard Drive than you can roll back to a earlier version without any problems

Hi sirs,

I hope you don't mind if I ask for a comparison in this thread.
I'm looking to buy my 1st media player, currently I have narrowed it down between the Mede8er MED500x and Xtreamer Pro.
I know there isn't a lot of insights to go on for the Xtreamer Pro, but would just like to know from the Mede8er users, would I be missing anything the Xtreamer Pro has to offer if I decide to buy the Mede8er?
Any known seller near south area, since eHome is a ways for me.

Thanks!

P.S.
Mede8er really wasn't on my short list, but shot to the top after reading the posts in this thread
or rather the lack off negative posts in this thread :)

I cannot make a comparison since Mede8er is my very first player. As i said in my previous post, been eyeing on a good & STABLE player since last year pa. Kaya lang everytime i read the topics re other players, nawawalan ako ng gana. Plug and play lang ang gusto ko.

Same reason as you've said kung bakit ako nag Mede8er. This topic lacks negative posts.

The mede8er looks like a very small receiver. or sabi nga ni wifey, parang betamax.  ;D Ok lang sa akin cuz been using this almost everyday with 2 movies minimun. Walang problema other than nagagalaw ko lang yun resolution. Didn't even bother to upgrade my FW fearing that baka magkaproblema pa. Sabi nga ng iba, if it's not broken, don't fix it. Honestly, i'm not much into tinkering sa mga software kasi kaya siguro hindi na ako nag-update.

The new Xtreamer Pro can have two  3.5" internal hard-disks while the Mede8er can only have one.

A big plus for Mede8er though is excellent service from Ehome.

Sir question, what are the advantages of having 2 internal HDDs besides clutter?

2x2TB maximum internal capacity.  Ang init nyan.  Madali nga lang bitbitin and i-pack kung dadalhin mo sa travel or sa ibang bahay.  Do you really think you need more than 2TB of data when you move the device around?  I do..hehehe..but I dont mind carrying the drives separately because I dont like internal connection  - RISKY sa data.   ;)

Im really leaning towards Mede8er now :D
Is there any heat issues when there is an internal hd in Mede8er?

2 internal bays would be great, but for me, if I really need that much space,
I think I would rather set-up a NAS for data storage. ;)

No other sellers besides eHome?

Thanks!

I have no heat issues with mede8er. Actually, i inquired if there's an available blower specifically for mede8er. Wala daw available cuz wala daw issues with heat. Maybe because isa lang ang HDD niya.

Speaking of NAS, Mahal ba yun? Masarap din ang may NAS lalo na kung more than 2 ang external HDD. pwede pa daw magshare via network.

After talking to to staff at ehome, i honestly didn't bother to look for other sellers because of they are very accommodating and i've heard good comments re their after-sales support.

Same thoughts. Pwede naman external HDD. Easier to transport ang external. I have no issues naman with mede8er re using external HDD. Never did notice any stutter which is sometimes, also common with dvds.

Pero let's wait for sir keypool's reply as he might have other inputs. I'm also a newbie in this field.

tempting na din yun new FW niya. Have you upgraded your FW na?

Thanks for the quick reply sir Nelson!
If eHome is really that recommended,
I guess I'll just have to plan the trip to their store :)

It dependes on the NAS unit, more bays = more expensive
but the 2 bay NAS of Dlink has become more affordable recently
it is around 8k for the NAS unit if im not mistaken.

Just so you know, the A200 is even better than the Mede8er.  I have both.  I love both.  I recommend both but if you dont mind spending an extra 2K, the A200 is definitely worth it no matter how ugly it make look.

Haha.  I am just an ordinary user like you.  :)

I enjoy spending more time watching movies than tinkering with the system.

That is why I chose the Mede8er.

Trouble-free.  Hassle-free.

I agree with Clondalkin.  Its more of a portability advantage.  But no big deal as you guys have said.

P.S.  @hokage, sent you PM.
