Dowals, a 1.5TB WD EADS draws only about 6W during seek (read/write), even much less during idle, and not even 1W during standby and sleep mode.  A true 550W PSU should not have any issues kahit 3 HDDs are connected internally, together with your 4770.

The psu i got was probably defective in the first place, thanks a lot!

Just for ref:
WD EADS 1TB (SATA):  5.5W
WD EADS 1.5TB (SATA):  6W

Thus, I think no problem.

in the other forum i always adviced people to try to get more psu watts than they actually need, limit only being their wallet....

got a Gigabyte Superb 550W as temporary psu for while waiting for the HEC.
I will be using this new psu for my 2nd desktop, as soon as the HEC comes back

Outstanding for storage use.  Dont know for OS use.  The latest one is the Advanced Format EARS series with 4K sector and 64MB cache - That particular model is said to be optimized for Vista and Windows 7 but the 4K sector size allegedly has issues with XP and older OS - better read about that.
