Hey guys check out the initial pix of our newly renovated home theater den we just had setup:

The goal was to not have any unsightly boxes in the den so we went with custom install built-in gear all the way.

THE EQUIPMENT:

Front Speakers: Polk LC265i
Center: Polk LCi-C
Surrounds: Polk LC80i
Subwoofer: Polk CSW200 (2pcs)
Receiver: Marantz SR6003
Amplifier: Bada 5-channel
Sub Amp: Polk SWA500
Blu-ray / Gaming: PS3 Slim
TV: Panasonic 42CS10
Projector: Panasonic AE4000
Screen: Elite Screen Home2 100" 16:9
Line Conditioner: Bada

JEFFERSON:

We hid the screen in the top portion of the false wall. Its attached with all the mounting brackets that came with the screen. (Matzer helped me with figure out the mounting so he'd be the person i suggest you contact or PM for info)

Hows the surround sound coming from the ceiling? Did you ever try positioning it differently?

HUDDAF:

Surround placement was limited due to the shape of the room as well as the terrible location of a roof beam:

To compensate, i angled the ceiling speakers away and towards the back to disperse and widen the effect and all things considered, it ain't too bad at all

.

And once i have the grills in - it becomes practically invisible which is the look i was going for

.

(the way i see it, if i can figure out a better location for surrounds down the line, i'll use the current surrounds as rear surrounds for a full 7.1 setup

)

why didn't you place the surrounds farther apart?

that was the original plan but when we pulled down the ceiling down, we noticed a beam that screwed our original planned placement location. See pic below:

we had to move the speaker closer. And to keep things matching, we had to move the other speaker closer as well.

Nice and clean setup!

For your surrounds you could place a pair of dipole speakers exactly at the sides of your armchairs, in which case the rear speakers would become the “surround back” speakers. If you can do this, it should be a better solution. Otherwise, the current setup should be ok.

Yep I've been thinking of that for a while now and more or less just waiting for an event (bday or father's day or something like that) to justify the new toys with the wife

BEEFY:

Ya they look like car speakers once their mounted but the mounting system is very different and much more flexible compared to car speakers (which makes things really easy when you want to try different angles or make changes down the line

).

As for Image Dynamics, you've heard of them? We carry them
