For me, I keep all enhancements  to "off", even "vivid color".

Hi Comitatus,

If you have the Panasonic Demo of Emmy Rossum (a demo disk must have come with one of your plasmas?), that fast camera pan while she was singing on top of the rocks (canyon) is a good example of "judder-free" 60Hz.   Ibang-iba ang panning look compared to that of 24p.

Cheers!

Currently using a Linksys WRT310N as my router, I'll try to look for the netgear. I only have to plug the netgear via usB ryt? plug and play? I dont have to install any software?

Thanks in Advance

Hi! Just would like to know if you were able to connect to the net. I'm using a Linksys WRT120N as my router. Were you able to connect to your network via Linksys wireless LAN Adaptor?

Hi. I'm a newbie to Plasma or LCD / LED TV for that matter. Have been using a 34 in CRT (i know, medyo jurassic) but its a Philips Pixel Plus circa 2003. I've enjoyed this Tv for a good number of years but now want to upgrade the size to a 42 in. I use this mainly for watching TV, cable, DVDs, and some gaming via a PS3 and Wii. I'd say TV is used 80-20 (watching : gaming) Went to SnS and saw this Panasonic 42V20 and liked the PQ.

My questions are:
1. Would this be recommendable for normal cable tv viewing?
2. Does it have built-in DLNA so I can stream movies wirelessly from my MBP?
3. The sala, where this tv will be placed is well lighted, is this ok or should it be in a darker room for the PQ to be impressive?
4. How does this plasma compare to Samsung 40C6900 and Samsung 40C650 in terms of PQ and usage for regular TV viewing and gaming?

Thank you in advance for your replies. Hope you can help this newbie.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I tried using a Buffalo Wireless-N adaptor but it didn't work. It could not be detected by the V20. I guess the Netgear would still be the best bet for those with internet cables that are located far from the TV.

Fotowhiz, welcome bro, we have a similar problem, my internet wires are FAR from my v20.

Dennis,
1. for regular cable viewing, based on my experience,I prefer CRT, PQ is better. But watching BLuray, PQ is awesome in thr v20.

2. I dunno bro, I'd have to check, but I have not used it if ever it has.

3. I suggest you put it in a darker room, but PQ will be impressive when you use HDMI connections. But a darker room would indeed be better.

4. I haven't compared it to the samsungs.

1.  Most definitely yes.

2.  No, cant do that with this TV.  WIRE your MBP to the TV.

3.  My living room and my bedroom can be illuminated as brightly as any electronic shop and the image quality is fine.  Do you have any complains about some of the sample photos Ive posted?  Ang liwanag ng room when I took those.  Dumilim lang dahil mabilis ang shutter speed setting to capture the image as sharp as the camera could without pausing the TV (and also because the screen is basically a light source kaya yung light metering ng cam would be based sa liwanag ng TV - kaya parang madilim sa background).

Of course mas impressive ang image kung mas madilim.  Kung meron kang lux meter, pag umabot ka ng 150 lux or below, near optimum na yon (in case ayaw mo ng total darkness like me).  For ref, a bright office would be about 500 lux.  Very bright stores would be 1000 lux or higher - pero medyo madilim ang stores sa Manila anyways..hehehe.

4.  The usual Plasma vs LCD.  Please read through that thread because everything has been answered there already.  If there is anything new and significant about this specific model, the image is bright enough, the screen reflection is very minimal and you should not bother about power consumption at all - hence it's an all indoor lighting level TV and you can watch, anytime, all the time.  It would suck if you place it in the garden under the sun, but even CRT and LCD and Iphone would - Kindle lang maganda under the sun.  Hehehe.

Take note yung puede mong maging headaches when used for gaming.   This model IRs so evidently kasi ang taas ng contrast, iisa layer ng screen, and maliwanag ang image.  So whatever shadow is left by static images, kitang-kita agad.

@Clondalkin

Thank you for your reply. i'm considering either the Toshiba 42XL700 or this Panasonic and have noted mostly good reviews regarding cable tv viewing. Although I haven't seen the Tosh in person, I guess all that's left is a visit to SnS to confirm my choice.

thank you! that was way way more informative than what my hubby showed me ;)

now, can we say that ifc is a better solution to remove judder over 24p?

is there something wrong with me if i find 60hz better than 24hz? i thought i was the only one...or am i the only one :D

I tried using the HDTVtest settings, looks good. You're referring to the setting where the contrast is at around 94 right? The one posted by David?

I'll probably try to get a calibration schedule na by next week.

...hmmm...honestly i keep it off! 24p seems too jerky for me but my hubby says it's the way films are meant to look...if i wanted a true theater experience then id just go to a movie house ;)

I read from a CNET article that these new models (like ours) may loose black level over time! Can anyone comment on this?

Thanks!

according to the article , if the black level does decrease, it wouldn't be noticeable. Hmmm , I hope so.

Hi FrancisS.

Could you kindly post the calibrated settings so we can try by ourselves?   Madilim yung TV room mo diba?  Hula ko somewhere between cinema and auto-sensor, but I would be thrilled if the advanced video settings (that I can't figure out) were also adjusted.

Ta-ta!

The spyder eye could only read and ask the calibrator to adjust Contrast, Color, Tint, color temp. I thought the other settings like gamma would be adjusted, but they didn't.

Tell me what you think.
