Xtreamer Weird problem
« on: Jul 26, 2010 at 03:17 PM »
Hello Good day,

I am here to report a very strange problem. Some of my MKV's stutter over network(Synology NAS DS410 + DIR-655) for almost a month now. Said MKV files do not stutter when attached via USB to the XT. So the problem isn't really the MKV's themselves. I tried remuxing it using the latest mkvtools but still to no avail.

So I decided to conduct an experiment and muxed an MKV file which stutter over network into a M2TS container using tsmuxer, namely "Hot Tub Time Machine 2010 Unrated 1080p BluRay DTS x264-CtrlHD".

After muxing into an M2ts file, the m2ts file is slightly larger than the mkv file. To my surprise while testing firstly the m2ts file, the Stuttering/juddering of video Image no longer exists!! While the stuttering still exists on the MKV file. .

It must be noted that the problem exists while streaming through a network. Playing via USB is fine for both.

Help would be badly appreciated. If this problem is with the Xt then I would definitely would be selling this(I am looking for a new media player anyways)

This seems to be a problem with the network setup especially the router.

Thanks for your reply. Can u please elaborate?? I just do not get it why an mkv file remuxed into an m2ts file(which is suppose to be heavier) plays smoothly than an Mkv File which is supposed to be the lighter file of the 2. . .

Lolz, I am close to selling this Xt of mine since there is no solution to my problem yet. .It would be impractical to remux all my 200 mkv files into an m2ts container. It would be cheaper to buy another media player than spend big on electricity bills by remuxing(remuxing stresses the cpu a lot hence increase electric consumption) all my files.

this maybe true on my setup.. if i use the 100mpbs port no problems even the high bitrate 1080p's/full bd iso. but when it is connected to 1000(gigabit) port - it will stutter..

Did you try using a DMZ? I think the setup guide of the etrayz can work with any type of NAS except you can not use menu link of the xtreamer for the etrayz.

Ang sabi ng mod sa XT is may prob daw sa 1080p 24hz issue sa mga mkv. . .May nagsabi rin na ang prob is sa mkv splitter ng Xt. All I know is sa Xt ang problema at hindi sa network ko. At least makakatulog na ako ng maayos ;D
